I have Stepps and climbing sticks. I am 57 years old and want to shorten learning c

If you’re hunting private land or your public land allows it you can’t beat a drill and grade 8 bolts for presets. If you’re gonna run and gun I think sticks are your best bet. Some guys like a hand drill and bolts but I still don’t think I can drill holes easier and quicker than I can hang 3 sticks

I agree with the sticks and bolts. Except if you log the trees on your property I don’t put bolts in so they don’t grow into the tree or I have to take them out when getting logged. I stick with the sticks. Quick easy and mobile

A preset beanpole ladder? That is swell!

Any kind of preset really.

If you’re talking mobile, probably sticks are easier than WE stepps.

Cherry picker....

Really as far as the easiest it would have to be forward climbing sticks, it's more like climbing an extension ladder than climbing completely vertical up a tree, for presets your not gonna beat it for pure ease of climbing.

If you are on public and can't damage trees; Lone Wolf hand climber will probably be the easiest assuming the tree has little to no branches.

I like the climbing sticks...although I am interested in trying the WE steps. I am selling 4 LWs sticks to get WE steps if your interested.

I have both, Lone wolf sticks are EasyPeay , but they are long. Either too high up on your pack or so low that your heals kick them. Wild Edge Steps have a learning curve to them, but are far more compact. So if you have the time, they are hopefully worth the effort. I'm still learnig ...LOL! I'm in early 60's, switching to run an gun in search of Monster bucks like I see in my back yard, not willing to shot a small buck. Switched to saddle hunting because my Summit Viper was too big and clumsily, yet too afraid of hunting from a Lone Wolf platform. I'm still learning hopefully there's abig buck down at the end of the tunnel!

I use 6 wild edge steps with the Cain method it gets to about 20 feet super quick and super easy. I will say that the wild edge steps have a learning curve but once you learn what it takes to cam them over on the first try it’s great compact light climbing method.

+1 for Cain Method with Wild Edge. Once you get the hang of it and trust the stepps, it’s awesome. It’s definitely not the easiest right out of the gate, though. It takes some practice.

i ordered the tree hopper drill mini and the 10 bolts . does anyone know what size diameter the bolts are ? i know they are 6 inches long and grade 8 bolts but couldnt find the diameter . im wanting to purchase some extra bolts at the hardware store. thanks!

i want to go to that later on but im to receive my saddle next week during the rut and im going to use tree steps pre drilled to start with . i like the look of the cain method.

Do you have many trees that are straight with few branches in your area?

Sounds like you have already discovered the easiest way to climb a tree to hunt.
