What is the most SOUGHT after saddle "thing" for saddle hunting

In theory if the LWCG Ambush was built correctly it should easily out perform the assassin. It’s nearly half the weight! But they whiffed last time up at bat. I hope this run it’s a homerun! Hopefully in 2 weeks I will find out.

Seeing the Assassin listed for sale at $600+ I was dumbfounded! And they sell quick!!! I think the price has come down to like $400-450 but still.... that’s high!!!!
I agree I was so close to ordering the first round and I am glad I did not. Then showed some restraint on the second round. I want to love it at the price. Yeah the assassin even at $400 is nuts to me. I am looking for the guy who has no idea what he has sitting in his shed lol

I have had it in my cart over 20 times, but I need to see the difference in the new batch first.
Just drive over and play on mine. It's only what, 17 hours? Lol

I guess i got lucky with mine. The versabutton was an easy fix for me, and my post was straight. The thing gets rock solid on a tree. No popping for me.

saddles are just one tool for killing things. I hunted out of a box blind, a ghillie suit and a lock on this year as well - whatever was the best for the situation or already where I wanted to be... I'm still messing around with my preferred climbing methods and I don't yet have the perfect saddle for me - maybe the ATA craze will reveal what I need - other than that, I'm outfitting my two teen sons to be able to hunt this way.

Cool sounds good. I got my saddle a little over half way through the season here. Got my first buck about a week or so before that in a hang on. The tree I needed to be in branched out real wide and in my view a hang on was the best option even over a saddle for the direction I needed to face.

Awesome to get your sons into it. I will be working on my kids in the next several years. They’re still pretty young right now.

A funny fact that a lot of new guys probably don't know.... About 3 years ago, an original Trophyline Tree Saddle like my 2006 Ambush was going for $400.00. Sometimes even more and guys were buying them. Ahhh the good ol' days hahahaha
@huck72412 was going to retire off the sale of his trophyline collection. Now he’ll have to settle for a vacation and go back to work.

For me it would be a JX3. I want one but just can't pull the trigger at $400. That and they are too available.

My presets would be awesome though. Preset some paracord, SRT up to a screw in step ROS. Man that would be the ticket....

It’s hard for me to narrow down to one thing in my saddle hunting experience. If I had to pick though I would say:
1. A good solid platform (not gonna narrow down to one make/model)
2. The ropeman1 ascender- this was a game changer for me using the lineman’s belt. And of course I use it anytime I use a hang on stand too. Basically anytime i climb a tree.

I have been posting some poorly worded posts today and can't believe how stupid they sound after I read them. I must be tired. :D
Maybe it's not only me.
What is a lighter weight self filling set up? Is that a saddle that puts itself on you or a pack that fill itself up with all your hunting and climbing gear?
I am all for a lighter weight self filming arm. I have not tried any mods yet and have my eye on the Out on a Limb camera arm. Currently, using a Fourth Arrow...its solid, but way too much weight! Compared to the other gear.

Just curious on what you think some of the most sought after saddle hunting accessories are. This could range from beast sticks, to and actually saddle, to a light weight pack or a platform, a pull up rope, or climbing device....

Or is there things out there that you guys have but wish were better or more affordable.

I know for me right now it would have to be a lighter weight self filling set up.

Wondering what you guys thoughts are on this.
In terms of scarcity its hard to tell with everything having a long wait time, but I'd say Yarak saddle is up there along with Beast sticks. Limited to no production will do that though.

In terms of what I've seen on the internet, it has to be packs. I see more posts on "what's the best way to haul all this crap I've bought into the woods". I went through this and feel like I've settled on a combo for my gear.

The one thing I look forward to seeing is saddle specific clothing options. A pair of bibs that can go on over my saddle and a coat that doesn't bunch up in the front. If the saddle trend continues I think we'll see saddle compatible clothing in the next 2yrs.
There is a company that has already started, versa skins I think is the name. Check them out, I know you can see them advertised on doublesteps.com

I am waiting for someone to develop a drone with auto pilot that will fly me to within 100 yds of my hunting spot and then return to my truck. It should have a GPS enabled key fob so that it can come pick me and my deer up after I track it down.

The rope man 1 is definitely one of those gadgets for sure. I would be interested in the LWCG sticks for sure but can't justify that for a while unless I hit the lottery. My muddy sticks work well enough.

Also BJ139 , the lighter weight self filming gear would be an aluminum/compact camera base and shoulder. I love my fourth arrow one but its bulky. Also I would like the option to customize arm lengths of my carbon arm from fourth arrow. Now that I'm in the saddle I could use a shorter top arm. If you ever seen DIY sportsman set up with his custom arm and aluminum base you'd know what I mean.

When you say the obsession is about over for you, are you saying you hunt with other set ups besides a saddle? Just asking because seems like anyone that’s into saddle hunting basically uses nothing else going forward.

I got a saddle this year and I do like it quite a bit, but at the same time I’m not getting rid of my hang on stand. I even have a climber that I have posted for sale but part of me is tempted to just keep it too. I know you only need one way to get up and sit in a tree but having variety tends to keep things interesting for me.

I consider the saddle a very important and widely useful tool in my deer hunting tool box.

I do too. I’ve certainly seen the light for sure. I know I’ll be using my saddle 90%+ of the time from now on.

I think the LW assassin for me is most sought out. I have come across a couple but at a crazy price that I am not willing to pay. But I do inquire every time I see one!

Agreed!

I got one of the ambush
They sent the bolt out
I’m 6’5” 260 with size 16 boots
No issues for me
I use my ridge runner more because I hate getting the ambush muddy
Definitely one hell of a great addition though!!

I’m all set for saddle gear and think I’m good for quite awhile. Never been one of those guys that feels the need to buy every single new item that comes out. Let everybody else buy them and work thru the issues. I’ll buy later when the product is proven to me that it’s worthwhile.

More outerwear with saddle hunter's in mind. I'm a "sit with my hands in my jacket pockets" guy. I really only have one jacket I can get away with that while I'm sitting in my saddle and I have to pull that one really far forward to expose the pockets. The bridge loops block off the pockets on the rest of my jackets, especially my rain gear. Maybe the Versaskins apparel linked through @DanO's site helps alleviate that.

Second, I'd like to see a really effective way to keep the tether from funneling water into my lap while hunting in the rain. I seem to end up hunting in wet conditions a lot and I've tried a bunch of different ways to keep the water from funneling down my tether but none of them have worked very well.
