This is a piece of public I am tearing into today after work. What do some of you public land warriors think as far as what looks good topographically? Where should I go and scout today specifically? Trying to get a good bang for my buck today.

Look at that saddle that’s right in the middle. I’d look to the west of it on that point or just off the point. It’s the one that the hard 90* angle on the west border points at. It’s kinda two saddles coming towards that spot, the second one is hard to see in the map you posted. That be a guess for me for a rut stand. Outside the rut you really need to find if there’s thickets, where they bed and some good food sources.

Personally I would check out this bench. Easy walking for deer to get to and from river using that gradual slope and that bench looks promising. Hunting in PA I realized benches can be hot spots. Plus they can bed there and around that hill top and potentially watch and smell what’s on those access trails if that’s what the black dotted lines are. Bucks will bed where they can see what they can’t smell and smell what they can’t see. All depends on where the pressure is coming from.

This is all good advice. Saddle for the rut. Benches are great but the ones facing South will hold dear late. Look for the thickets and don't forget to just enjoy your walk in the woods!
