What rifle is everyone using?

Kimber 84M Montana in .308 with Leupold VariX 3. Everyone needs an ultralight sheep hunting rifle for deer at 50-100 yards!

I also have a TC Icon in .308, a Ruger American in 6.5 creedmoor
How does the 6.5 creedmoor compare to the 308 on deer? I’m looking for a new rifle. I want a Ruger predator but can’t decide between 308 and 6.5 creedmoor. I don’t have any shots pass 300 so either would be fine distance wise. How do they compare on deer out to 200 yards? Does either one have a performance advantage on deer?

That 7.62x39mm in a bolt action is something

A 7.62x39 in a bolt action will be my next firearm acquisition, when the $ greens up.
I got my son the Ruger ranch in 7.62x39. It is amazing! I use it more than he does! Great gun! Haven’t shot a deer yet though. Hopefully tomorrow I will.

They are pretty close to each other. If I could only own one gun, I would choose the 6.5 creedmoor. It has nominal recoil and shoots flat. I killed 2 mule deer and 2 whitetail with it last year. It is now my go-to rifle.

I,ve had good luck w/ the Savages. Shot an elk at 273 yds w/ Savage 270. Dropped and never moved.

Savage 111 in 30.06 Bought as a package gun at DSG as my first gun period. That was about 17 years ago. It now sports a Boyd’s A-1 stock, Timney trigger and a Leupold VXR Patrol. Been a workhorse and shoots so well it still is my only deer rifle. Deer just don’t go anywhere when hit with it. My buck from this weekend was 50 yards away and it literally almost knocked him off his feet. I would like to grab an ultralight option in 6.5 Creed at some point.

I use a 224 valkery, 75 grain-90 grain bullet depending on the situation. It’s is loud, flat, but very efficient without all the kick.

My deer rifle, and likely to remain my deer rifle, is a TC Venture in 7mm-08. Love the rifle and the trigger is amazing. Love the caliber.

Here in Indiana we have just in the last few years been allowed to use “high powered” rifles on private land so I am using my savage axis 6.5 creedmoor. Public land is straight walled cowboy cartridges only so I use a break action CVA hunter 44 mag there.

My brother just killed 2 does one at 140 and one at 190 with a ruger American predator in 6.5 creedmoor. The 140 yard doe went 50 yards due to the shot being a bit back but the 190 dropped and never flinched.

Just swapped out my savage 110 7mm Rem Mag for a PSA 6.5 Creedmoor AR. Rifle in KS starts in a week and ready to drop some doe with this baby. Already tagged my buck with my bow. True believer in the 6.5!
