What to do about my eyes

So part of my issue is the fogging up, part of the issue is I learned to shoot without glasses, find it interferes with my set point.
Yea man your only hope is contacts. If you have the money then definitely go ahead and get lasiks. I had the same problem when I tried to use glasses.

As far as fogging goes, they make stuff (I think it’s silicone) for scuba diving to put on your mask to keep it from fogging, might be an idea to keep glasses clear.

Great idea. I use Cat Crap on my goggles when snowboarding and Frog Spit on my scuba mask. The stuff for scuba is liquid compared to the other which is a paste. Lots of brands out there but these had great names; they probably all work the same. Will need to do some testing on my backup glasses.

Anyone ever try something like this on a rifle scope?

When I went keto and lost 60 lbs my prescription went from R-2.25 L-2.75 to R-.75 L-1.00. I don't know if it is due to reduced eyeball swelling because of inflammation reduction or simply less fluid in my body. I don't think I need glasses to drive now. My natural lenses don't focus much anymore so I sometimes wear bifocals but that is an age problem. I usually wear non-bifocals while hunting. I have heard of people having Lasik then losing a lot of weight and their eyes can no longer focus at infinity.

Let me tell you a story.... Last year I spotted a doe and crawled over 100 yards to get into range . I got to 35 yards and stood up from the grass at full draw. The doe was looking right at me........ My glasses were completely fogged from all the hot air from the hard crawling and the morning humidity. I had to come back down into the grass and wipe my glasses. When i came back up again the doe spooked.

I will never miss a deer because of this again...... I got Lasik eye surgery because of this. ( I had contacts its just hard to want to put them on at 4 in the morning.) Also with lasik i came out seeing better than 20/20 so thats pretty cool. If you have the money it's a great investment in my opinion. Its not cheap though mine was 4k for both eyes.

Another added benifit over glasses is clear vision when turning your eyes to the side. Sometimes if a deer sneaks up on you it is nice to not have to turn your head and simply turn your eyes instead - with glasses when you turn your eyes that far you are no longer looking through the lenses which forces you to turn your head when someone with good vision wouldn't have to .

one thing that helped me with glasses and progressive lenses trying to see those tiny pins is a hindsight magnum. Now I do not care if the peep sight is there are not. Just line up the hindsight with the pin and done.

You can also use this.
The cheapest and easiest is a very mild solution of baby shampoo and water. We use 15-18 drops of baby shampoo mixed with water in a 2.5 ounce spray bottle. Spray it in your mask and swish it around thoroughly so it touches every surface of the glass.

Works on glasses to.

I've worn glasses/contacts for about 17-18 years now. I would get Lasik in a heartbeat. I mostly wear contacts outside of the house. Had one incident wear I developed an ulcer on my eye. They also get annoying when my allergies are acting up. One more thing to worry about when getting up to hunt. Hopefully I can save my pennies and get Lasik in the next couple of years. My mom had it almost 20 years ago and still sees fine.

On the boat we dive from in the Keys, we keep a 5-gallon bucket with Johnson's baby soap and fresh water in it to store masks in when going to/from diving spots. Makes a huge difference during the dive when using it versus not.

My eyes are crap. I can’t get laser because of the extreme astigmatism. The only time it’s an issue is when my glasses fog. As I’ve gotten older of course I’ve become far sighted. I need bifocals but don’t want them. I can use iron sights close in but past 100 yards my groups open up. For archery it doesn’t seem to affect me though.

I had bad astigmatism and was told when I was younger that I wouldn’t be a candidate for LASIK, but 20 yrs later medical advancements and computers made it possible. If it’s been a while since you checked you may want to look into it again.

I wear glasses and have an astigmatism requiring me to look dead on at the target (can't turn the head to anchor as usual and still see through the peep). So, I have learned to work on my bow and have developed a slightly unorthodox style (and this is why I stay out of bow shops because I'm tired of their employees trying to undo 30 years of trial and error).

If you keep the glasses, you might have to also experiment with different frames, bow set ups, etc.

Maybe worth revisiting.

Thanks to all that responded. My game plan is this:
FSA kicks in 30 days before archery season. If that money is available in January I will see about Lasik. Might try contacts till then.
