Have two bows, curious what they are really worthy.
Martin Bengal
Whisker biscuit
Tru glow sight
Really no bells and whistles
Bear Moment
Trophy ridge 5 pin sight and quiver
QAD rest
They both could use new strings
All comments welcome

$200-300 each. But they are worth whatever you can get for them.

The bengal probably 125-150$ ...the moment 200-225$ ..best bet is to sell them local with the way shipping costs are.

might not be ethical.....but could he put it on ebay with a hidden, but way too high reserve price and then look at the highest bid and take that as a data point? like make the price you'll take set at 10K or something crazy

I'm just really feeling like an upgrade. I like the Moment, but it's due for a string. So it's a back and forth decisions. Sell the two and upgrade or just throw another string on the Bear??

Oh boy do I feel pretty silly. I just shot about 20 arrows through that Martin. So smooth and spot on! Seriously haven't shot that bow in years.

Okay so now you remember what you liked. Maybe take the bow to the shop and shoot it next to a newer bow and see if it’s worth the upgrade. You may or may not like the new stuff and shooting side by side with be the best way to decide. Good luck!
You will likely be surprised by how much (for better or worse) compound technology as developed in recent years. And, there’s nothing wrong with sticking with what you have just because it’s familiar and comfortable.

If I can find time to go check a few out I will. Until then I'm really going to focus on that Martin and keep it simple. Throw about 30-40 arrow through a night? Just have fun

In light of everyone’s comments towards the advancement in how technology I’ll add one bit of my experience. I’ve always had old Parker’s and I loved them but I just got my first hoyt. Holy cow is it night and day! My last Parker was a 17 I bought it when then went out of buisness. I had no idea what I was missing but now I’m having a hard time gettting anything for a 6 year old bow dressed with arrows

Last year, I upgraded from a circa 2006-2007 hand-me-down Martin (can't remember the model) to a used 2016 Mathews Halon X. I learned to shoot the Martin really well, but I wanted something with newer tech. The draw cycle on the Halon X is much smoother, and I have gotten to a point where I can shoot it just as well as my previous Martin. @Camelcluch advise to shoot it next to a newer bow(s) is spot on. I also wouldn't be afraid to get something a couple years old. Bows don't retain their value, and consequently you can find an awesome deal.

Thanks for all the info. It's been very helpful in my thinking, I do much better to think out loud.

Good luck, and let us know what you end up getting! Or if you don't end up getting anything. If you re-string your Martin, and are happy with it, I think it would be a great alternative to spending more money on hunting gear. Plus, if you hang on to it for a few more years, it'll be so old you can just say you're shooting trad now...that's how that works, right?!
