Which small saw?

I ordered a Silky pocketboy 130 yesterday.
Couldn't decide on the straight blade or the curved. I ordered the curved which, as far as I can tell, only comes in the version with coarse teeth. It's supposed to be delivered tomorrow.
I also have a Wicked brand saw. It's not bad. But the tip of the blade broke when it got bound during a cut. I ordered a new blade, only to find out the company was bought out and the new blades wouldn't work in my handle because the goof-balls changed the size of the hole for the bolt. Idiots!
I think you will be impressed with the Silky. That's the one I got with the curved blade and large teeth. They only cut on the pull stroke, so I believe the curved blade helps the teeth bite and I like the big teeth since they are aggressive. I second the idea to use a Dremel tool to grind out that hole for your sawblade. It's a lot easier to grind hard steel than drill it.

The Pocketboy arrived yesterday.
I haven't had a chance to try it yet but it is an impressive little tool out of the package. That sucker is scary sharp!

I used mine quite a bit today cutting some privet hedge back at my Mom's place. Some of those privets were two to three inches in diameter and it went through them like a hot knife through butter.

If you’re gonna alter the blade, cool it in water constantly. Getting it hot will change temper.

another consideration with any saw is: is the blade replaceable? Silky sells replacements for their saws, though they cost almost as much as the complete saw. I’m about to buy one for mine… I snapped the blade… which you should expect when using a 12” blade to cut a 12” diameter tree…

Silky, Corona, Bahco, Wicked/Hooyman; in that order. I can testify that the Silky saws are stupid sharp, but anything works better than chewing branches off...
