Why don't yall 2TC?

What I keep coming back to is K.I.S.S.

Every “improvement” I’ve done worked well in the micro but didn’t really do anything extra in the macro.

For example, the double foot loop works great and is much easier…but the added setup and more evolutions required to get to a given height ultimately made it not worth it.

I still like my kong ducks but for something different, I’m sticking with distel hitches this season. K.I.S.S., it works the best.

Absolutely. There are limits to what improvements can actually improve! I've tried to focus on what many folks have mentioned are 'problems' or 'difficulties' with advancing a tether and I judge all my ideas and innovations on real climbs to know whether it saves time and effort or just makes one thing easier and another thing trickier!

My 2TC system is mated with a fully functional JRB climbing method so it's more complex than if I kept it just 2TC,..... as a disclaimer! I know I've commented on Apexpredatoroutdoor 's 2TC system as being very 'busy, so I know I may seem to be guilty of doing the same thing... but if you just take each idea as a separate concept and try adding it to your system with a little practice you may find that it gets you even closer to a K.I.S.S system!

An ultra simple 2TC system actually presents some serious difficulties and setbacks to getting up the tree anf the comfort factor, etc.
Then you have to add the caveats of folks who want to use 2TC to go around branches etc.
I think you can ultra K.I.S.S if you only climb straight smoot telephone pole trees and don't repel down, etc... To be prepared for all types of trees you have to tweak your system to be prepared for all possibilities!

Well, I have given it several tries and think I’ll be staying with my sticks this year.

if anyone has any interest in a full CGM kit, let me know. It’s a great setup, but for me, I’m staying with what I’m comfortable with.

Neat system tho
It's like someone read this thread and kyler's comments in the bolts threads about using an aider on bolts and combined the ideas. Jk I don't actually thing anything nefarious happened it's just similar (or if it was actually... not the first ideas to be commercialized from here right?). 2tc with an actual tether still seems easier to advance up the tree than the step/buckles they are using.

I think it's closer to that sladder idea the other fellow is trying to get to market than 2TC from what I saw in the video. It is a variation of aider climbing. It might not be a bad way to go but bare bones 2TC is much simpler, I think. I did a quick climb on my 11.4mm 2TC kit this morning. It's been a while between the broken wrist and the knee acting up. It's like riding a bicycle. I went right back to it. No problem. :)

Someone else is trying to commercialize y'all's idea www.anytreesteps.com
Ok, they're not wrong abt the footloops being versatile. I see it as an interesting ROS addition to a platform (which I love and won't give up!), small and packable. But for climbing up the tree, even just 6 feet 2TC is faster and easier. Darn it, now I gotta try making some footloops lol....

A double footloop does make for a backup platform (more like a ROS) if you forget your platform.

Something I should have brought up to yins guys is how I've been getting on my platforms after I 2TC up to where I wanna be...
I didn't figure this out until @gcr0003 talked me into no-sticking. So I owe you one Gabe! ;)

Once I started platform climbing I needed a two step aider on my platforms So I made a couple and they suck but I'll make better ones in the future. (maybe)

Well, the aider works great for 2TC becaus now when I'm hanging and setting my platform I put it right above where my foot tether is girth hitched around the tree. I just leave my bottom tether there and step right into my aider and climb up on the platform.
Once I come back down the aider (while bringing my top tether down each step with me) my foot tether is right there waiting for me.

I'll try to take a picture if anyone wants to see it...

Sitting in my saddle suspended from my tether attatching platform and my foot is still in foot loop for stability and comfort...

Once your platform is secure stepping from foot tether to bottom step of aider is a piece of cake.

Two panel saddles are great!

Aider makes a nice platform sling for the 2TC back down.

I’m exactly the opposite. Once at platform height, I’ll advance my foot loop and set the platform directly under it. Then, I step in the foot loop with one foot and the platform with the other.

We've got lots of info for climbing 2TC but not much on transferring to and from platforms and it's getting close to the season and some guys might not have had much practice time so I figure it ain't bad to have some options on here...

Absolutely. I in no way claim mine (or yours) is the best but suspect many who practice 2TC climb and descend without setting a platform.

One of the things I like about this is how personal you can make it to fit your style.
