Wildlife enforcement nicknames

Price this year will probably slow it down some.
No way, some guys wouldn't know how to hunt without bait. Its illegal here and every gas station, grocery store, Walmart all sell bait. Corn, apples, potatoes, mineral blocks, powders and it all sells, all season long. Hell one of our local grocery stores buys a semi load of bag corn every year and it sells out.

Was in Tractor Supply last week and 40# bags were $11. Seems like that's almost double what it was around here last year. Wont stop it but it will slow it down some around here just because of the number folks that cant afford to throw that kind of money at feeding deer. It's legal here except on private and you are right there are ton's of folks that arent killing many if any deer without bait. But the population might very well get out of control otherwise. If you assume half the deer killed are over bait(I would guess it is a good bit higher), here that equates to around a 100k deer per year. Leave that many on the landscape for 3-5 years and you could have some real problems start to show up with habitat, disease, additional auto collisions, etc. I guess I just dont view shooting a deer over bait any different than shooting one at 200-300 yards, it's just shooting a deer, not really hunting them. I have no problems with that because we need to shoot a certain number to keep the herd healthy and in check.

No doubt. That club my friend is in has a rule of NO SCOUTING. You are expected to pick your two primary spots, place a stand, put up a 200 pound or larger corn feeder and a camera and stay out of the woods. For this privilege he pays $1300 a year. There is no way I would go along with that nonsense. He said he is also expected to call in any deer they kill and report it to the club president.
No I’m out in that one. I thought scouting was half the fun of hunting.

Back on track-
Possum PO-lice
Turtle trackers
Crappie counters
Mr. Green Jeans
But to give them credit, round here they probably bust as much meth as anything else.

Honestly I didn’t start the thread to bust their chops. Im just interested in random nicknames. That are made up over the country. I don’t mind the random derail. I’m horrible about changing subjects like today. What do we have left to get the kids for school? Same breathe. You reckon that woman’s hoo hoo’s are real?

My best friend when I was stationed in CT was a CO (CT speak for Game Warden). He’s now retired, but back then he was Dan Dan the Conservation Man

Bait Brigade. Sooner we outlaw that BS the better off we’ll all be.

It’s not allowed on public land for anything, and illegal statewide for ducks, of course, and for turkeys. That doesn’t stop the baiters though. Disgusting habit. I would rather see a fellow eat another man’s boogers than to see him toss out corn.
Buddy sent me some huge deer, feeder trail cam pics today from a guy he works with. This is Ohio, guy claims they pour 8,000 lbs of corn a month.

The local soil and water guy said he’s walked a lot of properties and the number of feeders is even higher than you think.

Zero doubt about that, lol. I have friends in a lease that had a member drop out. They kept the lease price the same and put the $1600 surplus into “club corn”

And they still put out corn of their own! Craziness. They spent more time coordinating the putting out of corn and riding their ATVs all over hell and creation doing so than they did hunting.

It’s a shame the trout troopers lol. Can’t convince local wildlife lawmakers to remove baiting. I’m not a fan but I also appreciate being able to do it with pure skill and effort

Too much money in it. The guy at our local Coop said they make $100,000 a season in just bagged corn. This is just a small rural Coop in a sparsely populated part of the state.

I know the one season I had private land to hunt 19’ I spent 1600 in corn so that makes since BUT it never felt like it was hunting. I far more enjoy public land hunting with just scouting and natural resources

Yes, I'm the same way. I love hunting deer naturally and all the woodsmanship that goes into it. The challenge of scouting and hunting is what makes it fun. Plus, I don't mind saving all that money I would be spending on corn.

Amen on that. That’s allot of money to blow. Especially when they will walk by golden acorns to go to white oak acorns.

I know more than one guy with a wall full of illegal public land corn bucks. In his mind he's a great hunter.

That's some expensive Venison. I hope you were able to drop a few.
