Windwalker MODS

I did not. I’m still working out the best way to attach it I’m almost certain I’d ha r to cut the batwing to fit but it might only be bolted the the thin data plate. The other option I’m seeing is to drill to holes in the batwing and have it bolt to the upper Bolts on the stand as it is....

Are you using this stand in conjunction with a saddle as a platform or as a conventional stand with a conventional harness or RCH? I’m planning on it being like a hybrid so I can fold up the seat and face the tree in a saddle to shoot around the tree but also want to be able to use the seat and with my back against the tree if I need to.
If you’ve used it with a saddle, you have any problems stepping over the cables and leaning out to the side? Wondering how stable it will be with side pressure.

Traditional stand with a plain harness. Boring ok stuff I know

If you knew someone who can weld you could add tubing. A single shear 1/4 bolt through 1/8 plate is sketchy. Or the way nutterbuster used the tubing with 2 buttons

Those mini hang-on tree stands are definitely cool (windwalker, ghost, M7 microlite, Lil Ambush, X-Pedition 2.0, etc.), but how comfortable are they to really sit on for an extended time? I can't imagine them being nearly as comfortable as a saddle, plus they are heavier and bulkier. Cost is similar. So the only real advantage I see is like @Nutterbuster said - sitting still on a stand with less movement compared to hanging from a saddle. I would still have to give the overall advantage to the saddle for most situations.

I'm quite comfortable in my windwalker for a 6hr sit. I've been using one for probably 10+ years now. @WHW has been using a limit forever....seems to me he thinks it's ok.
My windwalker is under 6lbs. Honestly, weight wise it's totally comparable to a saddle when you're all in with everyrhing.

I've said it before and I'll say is again. The only reason that I went from my Limit to the saddle was for the safety factor. But, now that I'm a saddle hunter I'm enjoying a lot of benefits that a saddle offer over my Limit. I mostly use bolts now, but when I do use my spurs it's with the Limit. I'm uncomfortable using spurs with the small Predator platform. I'm more confident being able to sit down in my Limit seat to remove and put on the spurs.

I'd love to find a wind walker, don't know why but I just want one lol

so far so good. I'm gonna reinforce it with some bigger washers. to keep the side to side flex down.

Here is the pic on my last mod I got the stand down to 5.5 lbs

What seat are you using?

I agree with Weldabeast about the connection being sketchy. I'm also not a fan of the two versa buttons. The stress on the versa button bolt when used like a typical versa button is neutralized due to the strap pulling in opposing directions at nearly the same tension. When you apply tension in only one direction to the versa button you're just begging the bolts to snap off. I see some scary stuff on this site sometimes...

I have not tried the two button method. I’m leaning toward an OCB strap.

I recently bought a Spirit from a guy off craigslist. Anyone have any issues with kick outs on either the Spirit, Limit, or Windwalker? I feel like that bottom V bracket could kick out pretty easy. The one I bought came with the original rope strap so debating on replacing that with a new whoopie sling.

Any suggestions for one that’s basically original?
