Wood burning stove

Tulikivi. Do you have one? I have looked at these and other Masonry Heaters for years. I think I would like to have one. @Plebe

I do not. Friends did, but sold that property. They have lots of nice stuff they complain about, but ne'er a bad word about the Tulikivi. They loved it.

I've wanted one for a long time, but the best models you kind of have to plan a build around or luck into the right circumstances for them to really be at their best. My current house has a a central chimney with dual fireplaces already, so it's just unnecessary to check that box here. Although we did think about adding one of the "lightweight" models to the master.

Eventually, it's chalet or cabin...and that'll include Tulikivi heat.

If you have the space (and foundation) you might look into a masonry heater. A buddy built an off-grid house with a masonry heater with multiple fireboxes. IIRC, 1 in the living room and 1 in the kitchen (other side of the wall) plus a pizza oven in the kitchen. He paid a couple of ducats for it but, c'mon... pizza oven.

You can design them with a heat exchanger for hot water supply too.

Bakeoven, check.
Cookstove, check
Heated bench, gotta have that.

You custom build them? How far will you travel to build one?
I have traveled to surrounding states,I am in NY. You should be able to find a mason on the masonry heater association website. I use a kit from Maine wood heater for the core of the Heater and the doors and hardware. Then I can customize the exterior and layout. It is a great kit as it is repairable, which most are not.
