Worst thing you’ve forgot to take into the field?

Couldn’t agree more! TP and baby wipes are an absolute must

When I was new, all the guys at deer camp would say, you don't need that just use leaves.....

Not too much later, and by chance and good fortune, I discovered they were all bringing TP rolls into the woods with them, and not for flagging blood trails as they then tried to tell me.

Spare batteries.

I don't know that I forgot them, they might have fallen out while rifling through my pack after my headlamp died and my backup mini maglite failed to turn on.

But gutting and dragging a buck out in the dark is doable, yet extremely precarious.

Funny thing is, when I threw my pack into my Jeep upon arrival, it must have jostled something in that mag lite, cause it lit up bright as a torch.

I've upped my lamp inventory since. No less than 3 light sources and battery spares.

Primer for the muzzleloader.

That realization hit when the gun went click with what would have been/would still be the largest buck I've ever taken a shot at at 10 yards. I'm not sure which one of us was more shocked....

Not deer hunting, but I left my shotgun at home this last spring for turkey hunting...not a good feeling. Luckily I had a friend living nearby who lent me a shotgun for the day! :)

Same :(

I’m unbalanced though, one side more grey than the other. I also have a son and a daughter. Guess which child causes more grey hair.

Thought i was only one like that

I started hunting in 2014 later in life. Started with a saddle from day one, and my first hunt in big woods of southern MO, I hiked in way too deep and got set up on a small pond. Right before dark a decent buck, especially for my first ,walked in front of me. I slowly pulled up my bow and at that point found out I forgot my release. I am sure some people could still shoot without a release, I am not one of them. So watched the buck do his thing and walk off.

Couple years ago went out hunting and had a lost dog follow me all the way to where I was gonna hunt. Ended up walking the dog back to the truck and gave him something to eat and called the owner from ph# on his tag. Well thank God I went back because I left my quiver with all my arrows in it!! :tonguewink:

Good to see all the replies in here and how many folks can look back on and laugh now, or at least make other people laugh from. Good tips too throughout really! Appreciate you all!
