just an FYI, the next best thing is a chippewa ghost with the 20" seat height....

Indeed! I am looking for friend ....but IMO and experience.. Chippewa Ghost is head over heels a much better choice for what he wants ( weight and size) but I can't convince him.

Gotcha! the Windwalker beats the ghost for packability..and weight actually..my original "ultralite" windwalker is right around 5.75lbs, with the tree strap... BUT chippewa stands are killer and still made--and probably more comfortable :) and the hanging system is sweet.

wow! did not know there was a Ultralight!! He is a gaff hunter that roams so he counts every .5# My old Loc On buddies use to apply a self tapping metal screw inside out on bottom V to help deter kick out. i'll tell him about the Ultra Light...5.5 will really excite him!

DSC02103.JPG Yeah, they updated the construction at one point and they went to 7.75. People also often refer to this version as the "**** Idol" windwalker. Here's a pic for people to drool over :)

and I'l stop now...not trying to hijack the thread...carry on!

That is awesome! Is it fairly stable in the tree?

Yes, as long as you can keep your feet on the platform :) I've been huntign with a WW and RC harness for a while now...leaning some, sitting some...standing some...kinda a hybrid saddle setup almost...

That's a spirit. Probably 100-125. Windwalkers go for 300+ if you can convince someone to part with one...

Be careful with those camo straps on the LocOns.....there was a recall on them because after awhile the buckle would not bite the strap.

Back in the day they replaced them with a black strap, but nowadays you might have to get creative.

I replaced the strap on my original **** Idol Lock-On Limit with a Ameristep strap. Works better than the original strap.

Thats a great Idea. I've used the "chinese finger trap" or "Whoopie sling" style rope from a strap on cranford step as well that works great.
