I think the only solution is to coat it with rubberized bed liner spray or flex seal. Only one way to find out… I’ll let you know how it goes.

I’d wrap it in gutted paracord for a more permanent solution.

Here we go boys…. I’ll know tomorrow if this works. Can’t be any worse.

I can take a screwdriver and tap the super fly that I still have and then tap the fly, and there’s a very noticeable difference. It’s now a dull metal ting instead of the high pitched ting.

Be curious to here if it increased in weight.

It weighed 6lb 6.4oz loaded when I first weighed it.

It’s weighing 6lb 7.5 now. One ounce weight difference. I’ve used a half a can of spray on it. I’ll probably finish off the can tomorrow. Plus I added hockey tape to the cables. I’d thought it’d add more weight than that.

Well, that changes my mind. I was looking at one of these for the weight savings at the original weight, but not at that new weight.

Update on my fly project….. I used an entire can of flex seal max all over the platform, with the standing surface getting 2 more coats. It definitely quieted down the stand considerably. I’ve yet to hunt off of it, just testing in the yard. I’ll hunt from it one evening this week before I give it the ok to hunt serious deer. But I think it’ll be a go.

@Rutman any updates? I sent mine back... I weigh 155 pounds and the flex on that thing made me uneasy. The ting wasn't pleasant either.

I coated the fly I had with a rubber coating, and it quited it down considerably: I think it’s a great stand… I ended up and sold mine, but I’ll probably pick up another one. I still have the super fly. It fits my style better.

Guess I'll take over for @Rutman's status updates on the Fly since I bought it from him. ;)

I like the thing. Like it so much I even sold my .75 after a head to head comparison.

No idea what it sounded like before Rutman applied the flex seal but it's not too tingy or pingy for me to take it into the woods.

And I sold my fly and bought @Red Beard .75. the fly was a little lighter in comparison, but that was its only selling point for me. I'm sure xop has tested that metal alloy but the flex in the post and platform was too much for me. I imagine it being 0 degrees out and that thing just snapping.

I love the stand musical chairs we play here. Haha

So the question is, I've been hybrid hunting using an Air Raid Evolution for two years. I hate the seat. I've been looking at the Super Fly or the Roam, for lighter weight.

Is the Super Fly worth it or should I just get a Rubicon with some good straps and let it rip?
