Hello everyone I am in the market for some climbing sticks and want to get some opinions on whats out there. I have been heavy at looking at the XOP climbing sticks. Color doesn't matter to me that's what spray paint is for. I'm looking for light weight and quality that I know will last. Thanks in advance.

I recently started a thread asking about XOP’s as well and asking for comparison to Hawk Helium short sticks. So far what I’m finding about XOP sticks, if you want light weight, don’t bother with these. The specs show they’re quite heavy compared to other sticks out there. Not that they’re bad, but light weight is not one of their strong points. I was interested in them too. Looked well built and like the system they use to attach themselves together.

I lugged around a set of 4 XOP sticks for two seasons before I finally decided to chop one up into a single stick rig. They are stupid heavy.

If you want light weight cross the XOPs off the list.

What’s your price range?

Did you ever measure how heavy the normal sticks were? Whether each or all together?

I've got three full length sticks left. All three together come in around 11.7 pounds, which translates roughly to 3.9 pounds a stick or 15.6 pounds for four.

Gotcha. Thanks. That is pretty darn heavy to today’s standards. I used to have 4 lone Wolf sticks and those together weighed like 9 pounds I think. So over 15 for four of those is kind of insane.

So I just bought the lone wolf climbing sticks and tested them out around the house and I have to say so far these are really nice and easy to use. The steps could be a little bigger but they aren’t bad.
The weight of the four is nice and the straps aren’t bad either.

Lone wolfs are nice. They were the first set of sticks I owned. Back then I didn’t really know what I was doing or what I liked/didn’t like in a stick. Half considered getting another pair but at this point I can’t get past sticks with double steps.

I just modified one of my XOP sticks from a 34" to a 20" stick. The 34" weighed 3.8 lbs (including tree strap). The 20" model weighed 2.8 lbs (including tree strap). I am happy with how it turned out, it was a quick modification. I also now have a 13" piece of aluminum tubing left over to make a platform out of.
