XOP Edge

I'm new to this style of hunting. What platform do you suggest?

They are basically all good. Just like a car, will get you from point A to B just depending on comfort level. Cheapest is a Primal Step from Amazon with a DIY piece of plywood which will cost you $20 total and a few minutes of cutting OR To the $500 LWCG .5. I recommend if you dont want to get suck into the DIY blackhole/AKA money pit. Just get a Predator from the classified that pop up all the time for around 150-200. Its the most popular.

My choice is a lone wolf hang-on stand seat top, a piece of aluminum tube, brackets, and a versa button. Took 10 minutes to assemble and cost 60-80 depending on if you can find a good deal.

That's good to know, @HuumanCreed. I've been thinking about diy-ing a lone wolf seat with parts from EWO. Does yours handle side pressure well? Do you have any concerns with it breaking?

Why does it look plastic?

I wondered if it was just a 3D model myself.

The top step looks like it will be plastic from the overhead, but looks cast into the beam from the side.

I don’t think the images are from a real platform.

It handle side pressure just fine. I only have one versa strap on it. But I know some people use 2 straps and from what I saw its rock solid. But l highly recommend you go for the platform brackets. I dont have any concern of it breaking at my 180ish weight. Rarely would I be standing with my full weights on platform anyway. I recommend whatever platform you get just add a shoulder straps or sling. I use an old rifle sling and carry it on by back.

Whichever one you an get hands on for cheap. You'll try several before you settle on what you want, so getting one cheap (relative to new price) gives you the best ROI when it comes time to start horse-trading for the next new shiny.

The tabs look poorly placed, especially if you like to stand/lean on the edge of the platform (like I do!). Otherwise very similar to the mission platform.

It has similarities with the mission, (leveling & support, post step), which has similarities with the Assassin, but the basic shape of the platform is more like the Ambush.

Like DB4x4 said, another version of the same thing. Which is fine when it’s a better version.

I do like the size ok. I think 12 x 14 is a good size in this category and this is close to that. Because it is cast, I understand the extra material for rigidity and support of the leveling system.

But, this thing has too much going on...and doesn’t come in as any great bargain.

The slots in the platform for sticks....great for sticks, but I don’t want an uneven plane for my platform surface.

The tabs on the sides and front, seem like they’d be snags when working around the platform and uncomfortable to lean off. Run them inside if needs be, not outside the perimeter.

I prefer the Predator in this category, albeit, I think it could even be improved upon.

I’m puzzled why the design wouldn’t closely follow the ambush, just smaller. It’s still Cody right?

Can anyone decipher their features for me? I don't speak XOP marketing.

Hunting marketing is getting pretty bad. Like, your grunt call has to look like an antler in order to work, doesn’t it?

Anyway, let’s see what we can understand
  • Slot lock technology for climbing stick transport Reliefs in platform fit XOP climbing sticks
  • Ultra Grip Traction Ever step on a Lego, OUCH! You’ll definitely feel this platform under foot
  • XOP's Patented I-BEAM technology Post isn‘t square stock like Lone Wolf
  • Tow Rope anchor system equipped Those things on the front are just like the hooks on a pickup, use w/ discretion
  • Lock tight platform cam cleats The two cleats on the sides can be used to strap stuff down and no clankitty-clank
  • Quick Adjustment platform leveling Turn doohickey and adjust level
  • In Beam belt guide When folded, reliefs on the back of post align with the strap for secure transport (Brilliant )
  • Heat Treated Steel Fast Strap buttons There was a deal at a plumbing store, so we’ve heard
  • Sure post pivot point Unsure, but the post pivots anyway
  • 6 point offset bracket Tree bracket has six spikes, Like LWCG
