Yeah….I’m gonna say it

Don't be discourage. My backyard is a prime funnel between a cornfield and a state wildlife area. I can honestly harvest a deer any day I want. Not based on my skill, but by the circumstances that I found myself in. I can literally shot a deer from my bathtub. Don't negotiate against yourself, and don't be jealous of other people circumstances. Go do you even if it's not the easiest road.

Its all about what you find rewarding and what is your goal. What every said is true, its all about you and the deer.

But have you? That would be my first goal of the season above all others.

View from my bathroom around 3 PM. And this is nothing compare to what my wife usually send me to mock me when she wakes up for breakfast as I sit down at my desk at work most days. This picture was taken before I got tire of taking them since its no longer a surprise to see deer.

Hmm....ok I just read some of my posts. I'm not trying to brag or one up anyone. To the OP, I understand your frustration also. I struck out this year myself. So seeing the success stories really sting and I cant honestly tell you not to be jealous because I myself feel that same emotion. My point was that don't let other people dictate your happiness or your definition of success or goals. Remember its what make you happy. Don't let things that is not in your control make you feel like you need to compete with others.

Told wife to send me picture. This is from THIS MORNING....so I feel your pain in another way. There are days that I feel my resolve for what I consider hunting weakens....when is it would be so easy to HARVEST....

That retaining wall looks like one heck of a good blind/rest.
I'm not trying to be snarky but are you in town or something where you can't pursue these deer legally? Ethically you don't feel right harvesting one?

Dangit @Bigterp stop giving away my spots!!
I could give away spots every year for the rest of my life & we wouldn’t run out…… I’m game for any of you MD guys to come out. I look forward to the orange army this Saturday I got an escape trail I’m hunting on a pressured spot that’s gonna have 20plus trucks in the lot. Can’t wait!!!!

One word...WIFE.

She basically adopted the deer that visit our yard. Named them too. I am in a community next to farmlands.

But main reason why I got into hunting and what I want to get out of it. Its my stress releaser. At first I would argue with her that I should be allow to hunt on my own freaking lands! But she is right, we're fortunate to not be dependent on my ability to provide meat by hunting (or we'll starves). I'm in it as a passion SPORT, so I need to take the time and learn all of it. Scouting, tracking, etc...Don't take easy way and shoot deer from my bathroom. Spend the day in the wood enjoying God's creation. I don't regret it. Even after failing to poke a deer this year, I will keep at it for decades.

I totally get it. My wife goes with me sometimes just to watch the deer. She's hunted a few times but enjoys being close to critters more than hunting them.
Just FYI for you though....after the deer see the first couple fall to the guy hanging out of the bathroom window, the hunting will sure to be more challenging like you wanted and be right out your back door! :)

I took my kids to SC and hunted over corn for several sits and never saw a single deer. If everyone puts out corn then it’s kinda like everyone having lots of acorns, there isn’t an advantage. My dad likes to put corn out so we do what he wants. My place in Missouri is small acreage with no food plot and we killed two decent bucks in two days. My place is kind of a funnel. That said, I quit hunting my place last season and opted for public because of the neighbor’s dogs running deer. I get your frustrations though. Don’t dwell on his success and your lack of but put your effort into upping your game. You can go from hating life to ecstatic in about two seconds with deer hunting. You do you and have fun doing it.

Our public land is pretty hard hit. I’m just throwing salt cause it’s been a horrible year for me so far. Eventually it will come together.

hust annoyed at the guys that “hunt” over corn and then make fun of us public guys

Someone once told me, "Mind your own biscuits and life will be gravy."

I know it's tough sometimes, trust me, I've been there...
