You guys are great, Thank You

I’ll echo the same encouragement to get out and enjoy the peace that comes with being in the great outdoors. It silences all the noise from all the responsibilities and troubles life has for a man. I can relate, as a husband, father of 5, pastor of a church, full time job, volunteer EMT/Fire Dept., and youth BB/FB coach…on and on, I know that by the time season comes around I NEED the peace that comes with being in nature.

Grab your whatever you can shoot, maybe take someone that wants to learn to hunt and go let your soul rest. I’ll say a prayer for you tonight.

I posted another thread on this but if you can't hunt with a weapon, hunt with a camera even if it's your phone. Not being pressured to make the perfect shot will allow you to see the broader picture.

Plus it gets you outdoors in the quiet and we all see cool crap that we can otherwise never share.

I agree with all the above comments that say just get out there! Even if you don't take a weapon.

One of my favorite things about hunting is being up in the tree before sunrise and watching/listening to the woods wake up around me. It's somewhat "soul cleansing", if you will. One of the best methods of "therapy" that we can get.

Hey @Ckwilli I empathize greatly….. going through some stuff this summer myself. Actually the past two spring and summers. Going in for surgery Thursday but I just want to say to keep the faith and know that how we handle these setbacks is what counts the most.

Praying for your speedy recovery and wisdom during this struggle. Hunt when you can hunt and enjoy the time spent afield. It doesn’t matter what you use, it only matters that you are out there getting it done the way you are able!! And getting it done is simply enjoying God’s creation!

Thanks for all the encouragement! The one big caveat to bow hunting for me is most of the time I don’t shoot anything anyway. I had quite a few deer, including some nice bucks, come within bow range last season. I enjoyed just watching them and videoing them on my phone. I’ve been taking veterans out deer hunting for the last ten years or so and that’s been incredibly rewarding. Both of my kids have grown up hunting with me and I’ve had a great time taking them too. Hopefully the arm heals quickly but for now I’ll take the unmentionable piece of archery equipment to the woods. We discovered Mississippi pot roast made with Venison and we’ve gone through three deer since November. Time to stock the freezer!

If it helps to know there's always possibility, i effectively have given up on hunting from trees or really any distance not easily accessible to a host of issues. Found out a few days ago that i have B6 toxicity which can cause alot of my symptoms and may be reversible with time.

Still wont matter this year but there's hope for next year.

Good luck with that reversal process. Hope it works for you.
