hey guys, looking for some really thin quick drying hunting clothes. I live and hunt in Mississippi so most of the year it’s above 70 degrees, with early season in the 90’s, we usually get a whole 2 weeks of cold weather. I used to have some really thin nylon type clothes that was my dads from the late 90’s when he bowhunted, but by the time I started using them the labels were all worn off so I don’t know what brand they were. They kinda felt like the Columbia PFG shirts. Anyways, they’ve since worn out and already didn’t fit that great(about 3 sizes too big), so I’m looking for something super lightweight and thin. Not into the tight fitting UA type stuff (I’m rocking the dad-bod these days), I want it kinda loose, yet somewhat fitted. Anybody have any recommendations? Also not wanting to spend 4 truck notes on Sitka and other really high end brands unless you can let me know of a line from them that I can hopefully find used and almost worn out for only the price of one truck note haha! Thanks for any input you guys may have!

The best light weight affordable clothes I found was the scent blocker featherlight. IMHO quality light weight clothes

Thanks, I’ll check them out. I have some scentlok colder weather stuff, only bought it because a local store had it marked waaay down. I’ll look into them though, thanks

Scentlok bodysuit!

I crack myself up.

I never done hunted down in dixieland but I have one of the hottest thermostats known to mankind and half die when it is 75 out so I feel qualified.

I would wear polyester shirt and drawers walking in, be it name brand underarmour or the stuff kohls and tjmax have for $5. Same difference.

Not sure about pants. Shorts maybe but yinz got skeeters thatll carry yawl away. Maybe convertibles?

I would absolutely change into a dry cotton shirt once I got in the stand. Changing into a dry shirt is well worth it after a brutal hike. Nothing is cooler than dry cotton either.

Haha, 75 is really comfortable for us, unless it’s really humid, which is the case a lot. I usually carry an extra thin T-shirt to change into, and once my body cools some more I’ll put on a thin long sleeve I have. I can get by this way, have for years, but trying to find something that’s mind blowing ha. Yeah I’ve tried shorts, but skeeters can really drive you crazy. I also tried the asat leafy suit, felt too scratchy and actually seemed really hot, even though you wouldn’t think so.

I know you said you didn’t want to take out a second mortgage but maybe you will come across some on eBay or I’m sure they will have a 4th of July sale. Some things are on fathersday sale right now but maybe not this stuff.
Kuiu tiburon. I love it. Don’t have the pants yet but it’s like hunting naked. You feel ever little breeze. I rather the 1/4 zip shirt than the snap button. I have both. I hunt Ms. Its not soft like cotton but it’s the coolest, driest, and lightest I’ve worn.

Thanks I’ll check it out, even if I can’t afford it ha. I figured you would know something good since you know the heat and humidity like I do!

Keep an eye out for first lite clearance and sales too. They make some good warm weather layers

Don't understimate packing in some ice cold liquids either to cool you down. Carrying in an ice cold beer to reward yourself, or whatever whets your whistle to reward your hiking and climbing efforts may well be worth it. Its all a mental game.
I usually have something to drink, but it’s usually semi warm, which doesn’t help much. I may freeze a bottle of water and just let it thaw as I walk so I can drink it as it melts. One thing I haven’t tried yet, all my saddles so far have been diy with RC harness, so when I gotta pee, just unclip leg straps and let er rip. Well I just got a kestrel and haven’t peed from it yet, do y’all kestrel users unclip the loud leg straps or just loosen them a lot when you pee? I don’t guess it don’t really makes 2 craps which way it’s done. And it never fails, I gotta pee every hunt, about 30 minutes before dark.. I guess it’s like hide and seek when you were little, find a good spot, then you immediately have to take a leak ha

What cam is that? Evidently it works.

I know some of the guys swear by underarmour with scent control. Again paying an and a leg for it. I am not sure of it being as cool as kuiu. I have a few friends that use it for early bow around Richmond Va. I always wear under armour underwear when out in the heat. I believe a lot of the military still uses undararmour. They were on there way as a great company and they hit a home run with the military using it. @g2outdoors can probably talk on weather it is still used regularly by the military.

I use kuiu’s vias camo. The pics on their website make the tan look too light but it’s really darker in person. Some of there older pics was with a lighter version but they have since darkened the tan. I think it is great in a tree stand with being skylined. I’ve seen my pack on the ground in the leaves and it disappeared. The tan is the same color as dead leaves. There verte is great too. I just wanted to stick with one color so went with what I thought would look better in a tree. I really don’t think it matters much to the deer. I just like it. It’s a lot like predator camo.

Read up on the technology of the tiburon series in the description. The material was designed for Japanese Olympian’s to stay cool. Has tiny holes for ventilation. Opposite of what scentlok wants to do but I feel staying cool in our climate is better scent control than ringing wet in a nonbreathable scentlok suit. Been there.

I glanced at it last night before bed, and it does seem like it would be perfect. I’m gonna look into some more today. Price about gave me ulcer, but it does look like nice

Biggest sale is thanksgiving week and black Friday weekend. I save up every year. And hit other sales and clearances that pop up during the year. Don’t think I ever bought anything full price. But it’s still high. When I look at all the cheaper stuff I bought an don’t wear, it makes me feel better.

I guess that goes along with everything else we use hunting, better to buy once cry once. I figured I could save some money on warm weather stuff and then maybe splurge a little on some cold weather gear. This past year was the most cold days I’ve hunted in a long time. We actually had a winter, and every hunt when I was dressed like the michilen man and freezing cold, I woulda paid $1000 for some Sitka or First Lite... but those winters don’t happen too often down here. I’m gonna keep watching eBay and searching for some deals on something nice for a decent price. Thanks for all your input

The scent blocker featherlite I found was $12.99 for the pants and $12.99 for the shirts. For quality made clothing its hard to beat

Last year was rough in MS early January. I'm sure the guys up north would laugh at us though.

Field and Stream's lightweight ripstop poly cargo pants combined with UA threadborne shirts is the lightest combination I have found, and cheap to boot! I wear it during those September squirrel/hog hunts when it's still pushing 90 some days. I wear cotton boxers under it though, synthetic underwear are absolutely terrible in my book.

Also, on a hot day a hydroflask with some iced down Gatorade makes a load of difference.
