Anyone try this method with less than perfect trees? Maybe someone commented on it already but I usually pick trees that suck to climb, or have lots of limbs. Any issues? I think i'm sewing one up tonight.

I just set up a permanent ring of steps on a tree with a bunch of branches. No problem. Also here is one of my first climbs ever using the system. I'm actually much better at it now than in this video. But it still went fairly smooth. I tried to find a tree that was slanted, had branches and a fork.

Ok. Got mine all fixed up.

I figured out you don't have to sew some of the loops in the webbing if you don't want to. You can simply tie a figure 8 with doubled up webbing to create an end loop. A little bulkier than sewing, but no chance of it coming undone.

Also I salvaged webbing and hardware from a couple of old hang on stand harnesses. Might want to rifle through old gear before buying a bunch of stuff.

I field tested all my new gear today. 20 ft up with 3 Muddy sticks using the K/S system. Shot a squirrel from the saddle with my bow (first saddle kill) and had him for supper. I’ve been sick a few days, but with some squirrel therapy, I’m feeling much better now. Can’t wait for deer season! The Lord is good. I’m a thankful man. And I’m thankful for all the folks here on SH. Thanks for sharing this K/S system with me!

I'm going to learn how to sew so I can make a swaider/knaider. What type of thread is recommended?

If you get a speedy stitcher the stock thread that comes with it is plenty strong. And it’s dead simple to use and do a basic lock stitch and sew some box stitch patterns. That’s how I did mine.

I'm going to use a sewing machine my mom has. Will probably have to buy appropriate thread.

Here’s mine from salvaged lock on harness and 1” tubular webbing. I had the hook from a cam buckle tie down in the garage.

There is a sticky under the diy section that answers this question. Bottom line is the largest needle the machine can handle with the strongest thread. Guterman Mara 50 I think is what I have been using with a jeans needle.

I’m new to all this, but as I understand it, yes, that should be plenty strong enough. Just don’t bungee jump with it.

I was rocking this system yesterday and was getting 20+ft with 4 W.E. steps using my Treesqueeze. A little more practice and I think it will be very efficient.

Couple thoughts on this since I mocked mine up and gave it a try.

1. I love it

2. This is the best hunting forum in the world because of our amazing members and strong leadership. Thanks everyone and especially redsquirrel.

3. I am blown away at how easily I was able to go up the tree and just how fast it’s was to get to hunting height. It’s not preset fast but it is close.

4. I really can’t say enough how much I love it.
