Where the skys are so blue!
I'm blaming @Vtbow for planting this seed of an idea in my warped brain.

Story time.

I worked in a sporting goods store for 5 years and LOVED it. Got to meet a lot of cool dudes, and play with a lot of cool toys. Pay was dreadful though, barring moving far enough up the ranks that it wasn't fun any more.

So I cut my hair, shaved my face, brushed my teeth and my resume up, and started a new career. Pay and benefits are nice now, but it makes Jack a dull boy. That boredom drove me here.

I've REALLY enjoyed the community here. Y'all are all right for internet strangers. I've enjoyed learning and sharing, and I don't have to count registers or scan inventory!

The idea was tossed out that I should do podcasts. I laughed it off, but I kinda like the idea. I'm a talker. I like people and their stories. I like to learn, and I enjoy teaching. I've enjoyed putting together a youtube video or two, but I'm a simple guy and don't have the time or inclination to polish video up.

So here's the elevator pitch.

Two dudes: myself and a hog-hunting buddy. He's one of the funnier fellas I've run across, and he's a largely self-taught hunter, so he's always got a fresh perspective. Most importantly, he's a gear/tech guy and disagrees with me frequently.

Some episodes would be us recapping adventures and lessons learned. Some would be interviews with other hunters. I'd really like to see if some of y'all would be interested in appearing, so that folks could see how people of different backgrounds and means enjoyed the outdoors. Saddlehunting would figure in, but this would be a general outdoors show. Both of us hunt, fish, trap, camp, shoot, pretty much everything all the time.

The "angle" would be that both of us are self-described "opportunistic predators." We squirrel hunt. We water-swat coot when the birds don't show. Turkey hunts turn into hog hunts. We set yo-yos on the way to duck holes. We screw a LOT of stuff up, pour the water out of our waders, and laugh about it at the Waffle House.

We hunt because it is FUN, and we will absolutely have a good time one way or another.

There will be no face painting, plugging miracle antler supplements, or claiming hidden knowledge. No "Kill Monster Bucks with this ONE WEIRD TRICK" junk. Just candid conversations about whatever we're obsessing over at the moment, whether it's the perfect frog gig or how to pickle duck hearts.

Any interest?

Edit: pilot episode had tech issues, but we hacked this together. Meet Tim.

I'm always up for a good podcast to listen to. Give it a shot! I shouldn't be your first choice at a guest though...

Absolutely....so as long as we can get a permanent substitue for your spot.....all jokes aside just make it happen and if it is good people will listen, if it's not they won't. You could have forum members on as guest from time to time.

I love the idea, I think that having fun and enjoying hunting, being outdoors often gets over looked. It would be refreshing and I’m sure offully comical.
