Anyone using a Bike for access

I'm not the mountain climbing bicycle type, but I used one for years, on bottom ground. The MDC doesn't allow bikes on the areas I hunt, and I no longer have bottom ground to hunt, so the chain is rusted up pretty bad on my old huntin bike. There are parking lots on most MDC land within a mile of each other, which lowers the advantage of using bike. I do know, on that flat Mississippi River bottom ground a bicycle sure used to come in handy. If you have the place to utilize one, I would recommend it.

I hunt the mountains of North GA on National Forest and WMAs. Some of the food plots I hunt for hogs and bear are an hour or more hike behind a locked FS gate. I have been thinking about using a bike combined with one of these single wheel bike trailers. With meat spoilage a concern during early bow season the trailer would allow one to get the meat back to the truck much faster and easier. It’s usually uphill on the way in, and downhill on the way out.9C0185CD-E494-4DDD-8CAA-5BCC560516F7.jpeg

Bought this at the beginning of 2018 season.

Most of the areas I hunt are urban with paved trails, so I havent tested it on rough terrain. Might be a little noisy but probably something some rubber washers can fix. If I get a deer, I'll wrap it up, strap it down on my kids snow sled, then drop the front and back gates to the trailer. Trailer supports 110lbs.

This what I use . Radrover fat tire e-bike.
I use a an old Specialized downhill racing Mt bike to go most of the way about 1.75 miles- ebikes are not legal here in NY Adirondack Park, probably a good thing as @redsquirrel brought to my attention in another thread(ebikes easier access = more hunter pressure). I'm working with my nephew making a DIY aluminum bike trailer that can be converted to a deer cart by adding another handle...definitely adding four wheels on a pivot for going over logs( the trail in is pretty wet with logs in the water holes). I'll post a picture when finished with it.... he's busy this time of year slow going so far!
I don't think alot of hunters will drop a few thousand on an e-bike.

I have the quietkat ambush that I can use on public land in Illinois. I've gone 3 miles before in about 10 minutes of riding. Cannot beat the QK in getting to my areas.

No, but this year I do plan to, I’ll be out on my eBike scouting a few places these coming weeks, you ?
Yea I mostly hunt public land in southern MD been scouting a few spots already. If you come down this way and want to scout let me know

I just ordered all the parts for my Ebike build so I should be up and running by turkey season. I used @ckossuth's Rambo at saddlepalooza and went back into a spot that was three miles in about ten minutes. I was completely sold at that point lol! So much fun!

I used mine a ton last season. I’ll never be without it on the public land I hunt! Here’s a little montage..

I cannot tell you (well you know) how much fun it is powering though some thick brush and muck and getting back to spots that I wouldn't have walked back. Three miles back in the woods is crazy with all the gear I had on. I felt like I was back in the Marines on a hump with full combat gear. My Quietkat makes work easy and hunting fun.

How hard is it to pedal that ebike?

It’s more like riding a silent motorcycle lol. Don’t have to pedal at all if you don’t want. The power is pretty surprising

When I hunted public land alot back in the day I used the heck out of an old Walmart special MB. Only paid like 70 bucks brand new. I'd strap my bow to the handlebars with a couple bungees. Strap my pack to my climber throw it on my back and take off. Man I wish I'd known about saddle hunting back then. That climber and pack were heavy as crap riding that bike! LIke BudgetBuck1 said, I'd start sweating more than if I was walking but I did get to my spots quicker. Not sure I'd do it now but it worked back then. As a side note I loved turkey huntin off it. You can really cut the distance on a tom that responds a long ways off quick on a bike.

Used mine for years in MS turkey hunting. Never tried deer hunting with one. I've seen some carts that hook on to the rear of the bike for hauling out deer but they were expensive.
