Bib hunt

I'm on a hunt for some bibs. mid to heavy weight preferred, but not too heavy that they can't be worn to walk. being able to zipper for venting is a plus. lastly, they must be windproof. waterproof is not a must, but windproof is. anyone have any suggestions on some bibs?

Will any of the above work with saddle under them? will the loops fit through zipper etc or do you wear over the top of bib?

I am still running the First Lite North Branch bibs and am very happy with them. Only one rip in 3 years and that was from my spur.

I have the first lite sanctuary bibs (and jacket). I am very pleased with both. The vents on the bibs are awesome. They have stomped through quite a few nasty briar patches and are still in great shape.

you guys are all making a case for the first lite stuff! it looks like it requires reaching into the depths of the wallet that are not normally seen. haha.

I have sanctuary and they have been great, though I only wear them in the coldest stuff we get here in PA. The fit is a bit weird, had to go extra size up to zip up past my gut! Extremely quiet and never notice the wind. Pricey yes..

I end up wearing my bibs in 40-45ish temps. Only wear a pair of boxers under them and keep the vents open on the walk in and first 30 mins I am on the tree.
Jacket is a different story - I leave it at home unless it gets below 30. When you have them both on it gets toasty quick.

I've been using the hunt guard bibs and jacket fron Legendary whitetail. They have a zip out liner, are wind and waterproof. Leg zips to your hip. Super warm. Cargo pockets.

I recently got the Badlands Pyre bibs (and jacket!) and absolutely love them. I wear the saddle on the outside.

I have high end well known name brand bibs. They zip to the hip (a must in my opinion), are wind proof, quiet, and pretty darn warm. Are they expensive? Sort of. But I feel like they are worth it....until.....

I got my hands on a king of the mountain wool shirt/jacket. I had never heard of it, got a good deal from a member here on a used one. The versatility, and toughness of that garment has me rethinking the whole clothing thing.

Their bibs and jacket would cost you about 2000.00 new. That seems insane. But when you talk to folks who have had the gear for 20+ years, and worn it through some crazy weather and adventures, and it's still trucking, it doesn't seem so crazy. You'll drop close to a third or half that for any of the high end stuff coming out these days. Who's to say if they'll last 3 seasons. Or five. If they make it to the 7-8 year mark, it's probably a good investment.

But I'm really considering cashing out on the fancy synthetic stuff. I've gone through a few pretty intense situations with the wool, and I've come away impressed.

I don't have the answer, just tossing out there that I thought I had it figured out, and now I'm afraid I've missed the boat...
