Oh Yea. The last two days I've hunted more hrs and gotten jerked out of bed in the middle of the night w/awful cramps. I think my saddle is cutting off the circulation in my legs, I believe thats the worst pain I.ve ever had and it wont let up.

Are you drinking about a gallon of water per day? I also wonder if sitting in a saddle all day can cause blood clots? Something to consider maybe for the older guys.

Opening day couple weeks ago I logged about 8 hours in the saddle and walked about 7.5 miles. Woke up that night screaming with a cramp in my right hamstring, then got one in my left hamstring. As said above the worst pain imaginable. Luckily it went away after a minute or two. Definitely make sure you're not cutting off circulation to your legs, and get plenty of fluids throughout the day which I failed to do that day.

I think it has more to do with your platform than the actual saddle cutting off circulation. Us leaners put a lot of pressure on the arches of our feet while leaning on the edges of our platforms. This takes a while to get used to....just a hunch. I

Just curious, are your cramps in the lower legs and are you a leaner?

Do you have sciatic nerve issues? I recently developed them in my left leg after an accident. The nerve pinch causes my left calf to constrict on its own, and stretching makes it worse.

Nope, deep thigh cramps. 50/50 lean and sit

I get them so bad that I swear my thigh muscles are gonna rip in half.
I have some mineral supplements from Germany that are really effective at relieving the cramps.
The supplements are large tablets that are dissolved in water, and fizz like Alka Seltzer. I have a limited supply of these so I try to preserve them. My cramps go away within minutes after taking one.

We use a lot of essetial oils. They have a product called Ortho Sport by Young Living. I hate to admit it but it will relieve the worst in minutes, but thats after I,ve fallen out of bed and tried to find it in the dark. You just smell like the chiropractor shop the next day... I really am amazed at how well natural things will work.

you need to stretch your legs before walking in and outta the woods. Also pickle juice is full of electrolytes and will help your muscles and help you rehydrate.

So I really paid attention to my legs during my leans and I believe you might be right. I could feel the different stress on my thighs. Thanks for the insight Jasper2

I used to get awful cramps at night in boot camp. Stretch and hydrate. Make sure you're taking in enough electrolytes to replace what you're losing in the field.

I find that calf cramps can be relieved by stretching the muscle gently. Lay on your back and curl your toes up and back toward you as far as they will go. If you can grab a belt or length of rope, loop it over the balls of your feet and pull back gently then massage the cramp out. Don't yank, though, or you risk injury.
