I see a lot of posts on here with people complaining about the price of scentlok. I completely agree on their full prices. NEVER buy scentlok at full price. You can search their weekly deals, sign up for their email offers and buy it at the end of season and in the offseason. I rarely pay more than 1/2 price for any articles of their clothing.

They usually discount last 1-2 years lineup in the offseason in Closeout / Legacy locker deals. Just signup for their emails and you'll know when they're running specials.

I would have to agree, I see it on sale all the time and you can get it 50% off easy. Scent control aside it hard to beat the quality for the price IMO.

I love my coveralls that I got last year. Lightweight I can layer under and when I am done they fold back into themselves and make a bag.

I was listening to a podcast where they mentioned that to truely reactivate carbon you have to hit temps of 1200°F. So im wondering if its worth the investment for scentlok? The only other alternative to reactivating it is to use ozone. Curious on everyone elses opinion on that?

The same podcast mentioned Carbon Synergy, activated carbon in a powder form that you can mix in water and soak your cloths in it.

I believe the 1200 degrees is to fully reactivate carbon but dryer temps are sufficient for a certain level of reactivation. There is a ton of info and more specifics on this in a thread in the scent control forum.

This is pretty interesting! 1200 degrees? If ozone will do it that's a really easy solution for me, but I thought your weren't supposed to use ozone on Scent Lok for some reason. It seems like I remember hearing someone say that ozone may clog up the pours in the carbon and not allow it to absorb other molecules.

Ozone doesn't recharge carbon, it just kills odor causing bacteria. Carbon catches stink passing by it(to some degree or another)...ozone has nothing to do with that

Only sure fire way, throw your stuff in the dryer....then add more carbon. (Not in your dryer though...I mean shaking your clothes and carbon inside a storage bin) Like this dude, but he goes super extreme

few season worth...

There is an answer to this question on scent loks FAQ page. I can't find the page on my phone but I know read it on my desktop. Dryer Temps break physical bonds which is enough to reactivate, you need 1200 deg Temps to break chemical bonds which is unnecessary for our use.

"If you are given a test question asking which type of bond carbon forms, the answer is a covalent bond."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covalent_bond

for some reason I don't think scentlok or any other hunting related products employs "scientists". They just borrow and try to apply anything they can. Just a hunch though

Still Carbon is legit....just unsure about the reactivation thing

The physical bond/ chemical bind reference was from scent lok.

I was a chemistry major my first two years in college. I don't remember a lot because I either blocked it out or I drank too much but, I think there are different strength covalent bonds (sigma, double, triple something else maybe) maybe scent lok is using generic language to refer to the different strength covalent bonds?

Good discussion guys... just keep it to the discussion on the technology. I want to keep this one just to buying scentlok. Thanks!
