    Chronographed, Real-World Bow Speed

Bowtech sr350. Dead nuts on IBO. I'm shooting a 28" draw and 475 gr arrow, use an online arrow speed calculator, it's right where it should be. 286 fps with a 475 gr arrow, peep sight on string, 28 inch draw. 70 pound One thing to keep in mind, all bows, especially these newer high preload...

    Target Compound Bows

I think bowtech deserves a very serious look. They have a lineup of target bows, but the biggest reason I'm saying this is the incredible level of adjustments and tunability you get with their bows and how fast and easily you can tune without a press or disassembling cams etc.

    What's everyone reading?

The ARRL Ametuer Extra class exam textbook. It's the third license, I'm too OCD to just get the first two and not do the third

    My challenge to you

Don't forget overtime=extra vacation days your boss didn't even know you had. If your disciplined enough to save the OT cash to equal a paycheck and pay yourself back later, take unpaid days as extra vacation days.

Hind sight question for cross eye dominance

I honestly can't remember if I shoot with my left eye open or closed. I never consciously think about it. I'd have to go shoot my bow. That said its not uncommon to shoot with both eyes open. Pistols are shot both eyes open. Quick shooting with a rifle (low power zoom or iron sights) also...

    Overnight + trips

I also hunt George Washington national forest I've seen a 10 point shot off GW the guy had walked 20 minutes inn. You don't have to go deep to find deer

    Overnight + trips

I prefer to go home either with a deer in my truck by lunch time or go home empty handed and fill a doe tag at home... Either way I don't get wanting to leave your family for days to hunt whitetail? I hunt mornings or sometimes evenings. It takes me 20-30 minutes to drive to my spot, 30 to be...

    How to price a bow?

Thing with bows is buy what you like. And don't plan on reselling to make money. Buy planning to shoot it for 10 years and if you sell it for 100 or 200 great. Or make it a bow fishing bow. Just my .02. I had a buddy that got a new bow every year, sponsored shooting 3D. Seemed like extra work...

    How to price a bow?

Look at craigslist and note what's there. Look again in a week or two. If the same bows are there still, they are asking more than they're worth, so you can gauge off that you need to be lower. I constantly see old bows for 200-300 on CL. They don't sell. I post my 2011 assasin for 100, it was...

Anybody ever climb just to climb?

I climbed a walnut way high once in my saddle. Had my wife pull my bottom stick off so I could pull it up to use 5 32" sticks essentially then my platform. Then pulled my Stihl up to cut a big dead branch off I couldn't reach any other way. Needed to put a pole barn next to it and didn't want...

Spring Gobbler hunting with a bow.

Another guy here who drilled one with an arrow with a "turkey" broadhead and spent hours tracking 2 drops of blood and never found it. Then shot one with a shotgun. That worked good

    String cost rant.

I use a G2 portable bow press. It's the best 50 bucks or so I've spent on hunting gear. I'm my own amateur bow tech now. It's really nice swapping strings or whatnot at your house and walking right outside to shoot and right back in to adjust

    String cost rant.

Everything is expensive nowadays. They used the cold as the excuse to price gouge us, then realized why ever lower prices again? I typically keep a set of strings on at least 5 years. Maybe combat prices with quality string wax?

How far do you think a deer can see.

I think it depends on cover too. Right now with snow on the ground I could see a guy over a mile away on a mountain walking. If it was no snow no way I'd see someone. My best guess is they can see as far as we do

What will you test or tinker?

Thinking of changing my arrows. No reason. I have enough to make it another season. But why not?
