I wouldn't trust my life to an unbranded ascender. Besides it looks like it could be easily bumped to open. If your trying to save money use a distel hitch and tender. https://saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?threads/anyone-else-using-a-schwabisch-hitch-on-their-tether.8506/page-2

    What do I need?

Well you can buy a kit from aero hunter or tethrd that has all of this, or you can diy with a rch (rock climbing harness) and a sit drag where you would have to buy the components individually (tether, linesman belt, bridge, carabiners, rope for friction hitch or ascenders). Definitely easier...

    ROS or Platform ?

OCB for the ros, see the sticky. Quiet, doesn't move, and weighs less

    Need climbing method asap.

Tough this time of year as pretty much the yearly run of everything has been sold. I'd try Craigslist and fb sale pages. Barring any luck there you may have to buy some box store sticks and suffer through the weight.

    Cabelas Wooltimate

I ordered the pants and jacket on sale in October. The jacket was backordered and they said they were not discontinuing but it would be 30+days before it was in stock. I got a vest and pullover off ebay for about the same price as the jacket. I think the camo pattern works well, stops the...

    What rope for splicing

Amsteel is not a good choice. It's slippery on bark and with friction hitches, doesn't work with ropeman, and has poor abrasion resistance. Great for a bridge though. Not sure on splicing your own eyes as I don't trust myself to do this yet. This is a pretty cheap and safe option...

Choosing a good Backpack that doesn't cost 400 dollars?

70 years of making packs, they got it down by now. Btw the non tactical 44L redwing(same as my 10 year old 50L) weights 2lb 10oz. Not sure how these other packs are $400.

Choosing a good Backpack that doesn't cost 400 dollars?

I have the 50L kelty redwing pack that I use hiking/camping and it's lasted me like 10 years with no problems and is awesome to hike with. They have a tactical version now which is supposed to be tougher. $110 for the 44L and it's 3.75 lbs...
