I live in MN and am having a hard time finding anywhere to get 3 8’ 1/4” amsteel ropes without having to pay for a Joann bulk role that is super expensive and I don’t need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I always order it, like $10 shipping. Sucks, but it's good stuff

I just got 2 50’ winch cables off of Amazon. Less than $25 a piece and free shipping. Just have to take apart the locked Brummell to get the metal ring out. Read the description to make sure it’s actually Amsteel.

There are 2 different Amsteels, sk60 and sk75. The 60 is cheaper and not sure it has the UV resistance. Its probably fine for sticks and the UV isnt really an issue since most of us dont leave our amsteel outside all year. I was shocked to see that winch cable so much cheaper than bulk cord. Sucks when you can buy a product and tear it apart cheaper than raw materials. I ran into this trying to by expanded sheet metal(think screen). A company quoted me like $70 for a piece of mesh to cover an air opening in my car bumper. I was able to buy a trash can from walmart and cut it apart for like $5. How ridiculous is that?

The winch cable I ordered showed up the other day. It is slightly different then the Amsteel I have. The winch cable feels a little stiffer and although it appears to be braided the same as Amsteel, the cross section of the rope is almost a square versus the Amsteel which is round. Nothing about it makes me think the 7,700 lb rating is incorrect or that it won't work on sticks though.
