Has anyone added a 1 step to their predator? How/where did you attach it? I just made one up and tried a few different ways & places to attach it, none of them felt like a home run. Also, with the aider, where do you position the platform....straight above last stick, a little offsest, halfway around tree etc? As always, pics would be phenomenal!

I tried a search but it didn't produce. ‍♂️

What are you trying to accomplish by doing so? If it’s just height add a couple cranford rope steps at the bottom of the tree or keep a couple with you to help get the perfect final position. I think it’s probably a touch risky transition into the platform....

@Bigterp I am trying to get higher. I don't have any cranford steps. I do have webbing and made an aider. It was sketchy, I'm hoping someone else cracked the code and I can learn from their from success.

I agree with what Bigterp is saying as far as a risky transition into the platform. If anything just add an aider on your climbing method. So far all season I’ve used 3 muddy pro sticks with only an aider on the bottom with a predator platform and I can get 15 to 18 feet with that. With the right tree and cover I don’t see the need to go higher. I just wouldn’t think it is safe to use an aider on a platform because even if you tethered I feel like it would add slack in your tether during the transition. I’m new to this game so I could be wrong.

What many of us Predator users have found is that the distance from the tree is to much( very unstable) when using an aider off of the front. Where else you could locate one on the platform to make using an aider safer I don't know. I can get about 2 feet above my last step by just kneeling on it to get up. Tether up before you climb on.

I do it, I simply run it up through the platform and then over the top post. I make it a little shorter than my full length one. I have not had a problem doing it but I set my platform well by pulling down on the post them pulling down on the platform. I also always hook my tether up over the top of it and I am using both tether and lineman's belt. I only do it when I need that extra foot or 1.5 feet higher.

I was using a 5 step moveable aider with the 3 hawks and no aider on the predator and was getting to 22ft @ platform. I got sick of the moveable aider and am gonna try the 5 step on the 1st stick and a single on my other 2. This gets my platform at 17, I'm just trying to regain some height I lost from the moveable. The platform aider I tried got me to 19, but as yall suspected, I will confirm its a little hairy....

90% of where I hunt was select cut a few years ago. The majority of trees are straight and slick with little cover. A climber has been the ticket at 22-28ft to platform after leaves fall.
