1-Stick Set up w/ Mini Shikar & Scout

The size in general....i would consider them a screw.....even grade 8 they are just teeny tiny. If they say they rated for what u comfortable with than go for it....not saying its bad/wrong....I personally would be looking for another alternative because in my mind I'm only being held on by 2 screws

I'm using a Harken 150. The screws are definitely tiny. I over tightened the screws, broke the red plastic race and had tiny ball bearings roll all over the shop floor...what a mess! To think a plastic race is holding the bearings in place which is holding the tension on your rope is a little unnerving. That being said, I'm going to be using one this year. I've bounced my 220 lbs on it and tried breaking it but it doesn't seem to give up.

Figure I’d update this one too since it was my original display of the stick.

Finally got the cam cleat in and installed it today. Only took about 15 min to do.

-Remove versa button
-install set screw
-clamp template to stick
-drill 2 holes
-install cam cleat. (2 bolts, 2 washer, 2 lock washers, and 2 lock nuts)
- tighten until cam cleat binds up and back off barely until springs release.

Found some other #8 bolts that I hope have a little more strength. I also just found grade 8 #8 bolts online. Might have to order them!

Going to pick up shorter bolts and hoping to figure out a back plate because the washers on the back kept want to slide into the grooves of the shikar.

Here are the pics so far.

This black bolt is the one I found at Ace but forgot to grab washer for the top side under head.

1/4” set screw to fill versa hole. Matt suggested not leaving it hollow.

What’s the thread size on the set screw? 8-32? 1/4-20?

Honestly I don’t remember. I took the versa button off and went to Ace and matched it. Some others have just reversed the versa button and attached the rope to it rather than girth hitching it.
