So I passed on my Father’s Light Contour 11-87 to my 17 year old for X-mas. He is not hunting much anymore, but he still likes to shoot. I have a lot of memories with that gun. A lot of deer, upland birds and waterfowl were taken with that gun.
My 13 year old who has been hunting with me has been using my 870, I felt the need to buy him a new 1187 for X-Mas. Both boys were surprised. However, my 17 year old realizes the specialness of handing down his grandfather’s gun. It is still in pristine condition. My 13 year will get a rifle in the future that was my Dad’s. My daughter who is 22 has already received a Ruger Red Label passed down.
