How much for non-resident? :)

Of course it's quite a ways from West Michigan to Maine so I'm probably not burning vacation either lol
$75 bucks for a non-resident small game license plus $20 for the turkey license. If your hunting in my district in southern Maine you are allowed 2 Bearded birds in the spring and 5 turkeys of either sex in the fall.

Let me start off by saying that I used to turkey hunt years ago but I just don't get what is so appealing about it. Putting all that effort in to killing a bird that you might get 2 or 3 meals from when you could be saving all that vacation time for deer makes no sense to me but to each his own. I never had a problem filling my tags either as I believe that people give turkeys way to much credit for an animal with a brain the size of a pea. They do have amazing senses though. Now that I have gotten that out of the way and probably ticked off most of you reading this I just wanted you guys to know that if you want some great turkey hunting then come to Maine and shoot all of them you want. Seriously though we are over run with them and the hunting pressure here is pretty low as far as turkey hunters go. I have to throw rocks at them sometimes to get them out of my yard so there isn't turkey crap all over the lawn. Saw a video a while back where THP hunted turkeys in Maine and if I remember correctly they tagged out on day 1.
That’s good intel. I was thinking of deer hunting Down East / up North next winter. I should hunt Turkey in southern Maine this spring.

Finally an out of state hunt I can afford!

That's very reasonable and generous limits! Too bad it's so far over there

Youth turkey opens up this weekend in my part of Florida. I’m extra excited year, because my 9yo daughter won her first quota hunt at a local wma. I’ve found a good amount of birds for her, but i think our best chance is going to be a spot that requires me to drag her 200yds thru a knee deep swamp in a dead sled. The things we do for our kids.

Found out yes, Ghost cuts are a good purr call. Actually starting to like it for a lot of things!

Trying to downsize this year what’s in my “vest”. What items are in yours?

I'm going to have to try one. I usually use a split v, but I've only got one year under my belt. How are you purring? Are you doing the throaty style or with your lips?

Unrelated but I got the tag I wanted, 4-22 opener! I have 2 spots lined up, seen decent birds both locations last year the same week!

Woodhaven makes a couple and actually the guy from Pinohti project makes some now too. I just ordered some of his.
To purr, I believe the “pros” recommend your tounge/diaphragm

good luck buddy!

Season started here in MS March 15th.

I was able to get out opening morning and heard two a daylight, was eventually able to get one to flop at 9:50 am. My first ever opening day bird.

Decided to get back in there March 18th and see if I could locate the other gobbler I heard 3 days prior. I eventually struck him around 9:40. With a little back and forth play I finally pulled the trigger at 10:50, strutting and drumming at 20 yards.
