2024 Gear thread

I'm glad some one said it, @Dope on a Rope (and @GeoFish ), there is more to a shot than the broadhead. Sharp sticks and rocks got the job done for quite some time, didn't they? Lol

I'm happy for those you of who are good at sharpening stuff. If my head gets wasted on an animal, oh well. Get another one out. And I don't cry if it does like I might an IW, lol.

That's why I like a 3 blade head with no weird angles. So easy to sharpen, a GeoFish can do it.
Yep I also love 3 blades. My bishops have a mirror finish

These also mess people up sometimes because of the perceived sharpness. You will never ever shave hair on that blunt 60° angle. Not gunna happen. The best way to tell if you're ready to go is a simple nail test. If the blade instantly stops when hitting your nail and doesnt skid across it go hunting.

I lost an Iron Will on a bear last year somehow on a straight down shot. My scream at the thought of it gone was exactly like this

If I ever lost a Bishop broadhead in the wood. I'm going to run straight into a sharp tree branch. Tell my wife that it got lost while a buck gored me, maybe she feel bad enough to forget that I actually sent $200 on a broadhead.......MAYBE

I have been considering 8mm rope as my 11mm have been in service for at least 3 years if not 4 years.
Have you or are you using this rope?
Is anyone else using it and what do you think?
Forgive me if this has already been discussed but too many pages to search, especially when I can just be lazy.

I've got some but haven't climbed with it yet. Been too busy lately with all the end of year school stuff and 3 kids. When I do have time, the weather is nasty.

There's another thread in this forum with 8mm predator rope as the title that I started and some people have chimed in there. Other than that, I haven't seen it mentioned much.

I had/ have been using 8mm vaporline from Latitude. It's kinda stiff but it's OK. I use 6mm nowo_O

I get it. I've gone back and forth if expensive heads are worth it. Especially because it's an item so easily lost or destroyed.

My take is, I wait all year for that 1 MAYBE 2 opportunitys at a mature buck. Deer hunting doesn't consume my life, but it is my biggest passion and hobby. When that golden moment finally presents itself that I wanted and fantasized about all year, I want every advantage in my corner.

We spend comical amounts of money on saddles, stands, climbing sticks, clothes, gas, paying for leases, land purchased, snacks on stand etc etc. And yet, the ONLY thing at the end of the day that takes home that deer is your broadhead. It does 100% of the work. I want it to count.

100%! Truly, it is the only piece of equipment that ensures the kill!

This thing actually looks pretty cool although it is expensive. I plan on sticking with my RR XL personally.

I don’t see a point in that. It’s useless as a regular stand. The platform is far too short. Straddling the tree? No way… need steps on the sides of the tree to be comfortable doing that. It’s a saddle platform with built in kneepad at best…. For $500

Try it out and sell me the used version for cheap please, please LOL
