Well, I struggle to find sheds, but I've found a couple nice deads. Admittedly, this was last year. He died while in velvet. Rack is very porous and light weight.

Well, opening day of Illinois Turkey season wasn't a total bust. Found this deadhead while trying to see if there were any birds in the county. They were so busted up I left them for the tree rats.

Im a taker, unless they are totally gone. Remove all intel. And, those gnarled bases make great knife handles.

View attachment 102181 Went to a friends Midwest Farm. All came from 3 acres of standing beans in a creek bottom. Beautiful country. Took about 15 minutes to find these. Found several more on another one of their farms but didn’t take pics.
Midwest is built different haha. That is an impossible dream around me even on the best 100 acres. cant imagine finding that in 3 acres.

First one is a broke of side from a buck I saw several times during the season. Second one I found in my hayfield. They all go to Bailey to chew on although she’d rather have whatever I am eating. Lol.

Trust me I get it. I’ve walked 1000 miles in Fl and found 4 in 19 years. Went with those guys to Missouri and they were everywhere. They were like we need to find them so a tractor tire doesn’t.

I think only serious whitetail hunters understand the “loss” and value of late winter early spring scouting postseason conditions. Green up, heat and humidity…. Yucko in my book. But it does grow antlers.
I’ll deal with it until Memorial Day after that I’m out till October. Our season closes here December 31st every year and every year January 1st I’m out gathering intel for late season next year once I have what I need I move on to scouting rut sign from late February until early April. Then I shift to hiking for sheds with the family until it’s un bearable
