OK, I said I would do a video, so here it is. NOT PRETTY. Im not a video editing guy. But, maybe there will be some entertainment value in watching an old fat guy trying to scale a tree with string!
A few things learned.
1. A linemans rope would make this easier, freeing up the hands to move the top tether up. Im fine with it as is though. Im in no hurry.
2. Much easier to do with one foot rather both feet in the aider
3. I need more cardio.

Nice work. Always awesome to see stuff in use.

Yours certainly packs down alot smaller than mine! Nice job!!!! Did you up size on the foot loop for comfort or do you just feel safer with the bigger amsteel?

I'm not completely sold on using the same size amsteel prusik on amsteel tether. So, to use the 3/16 foot aider I had to use 1/4 inch tether. Anything less than 3/16 aider gets uncomfortable on my foot.

Slick, might have to make one of these setups for when I grab my bow and go with no idea where I’ll end up.

Thanks for posting. You seemed to have a much easier time than I did with a similar setup. I think a shorter bridge may have helped in my case. I felt like I was reaching way too high and it made it pretty tough.

Have you seen Scott Adkins' videos? He climbs with two tethers, but has a loop that attaches around his thigh on one. He also hooks that leg around the tree to help stay vertical.

All this really gets my brain churning. I really want to get an efficient system like this working.

Ive seen several videos using ropes, but havent seen that one. Thanks! My goal here is to take advantage of some of the ridiculously light weight high strength materials.

I’ve been working with this system on and off this week. At first I wasn’t really thinking it would work out for me other than a super lite weight self rescue system if I dropped my one stick.
After trying it with a better boot that changed everything. I wouldn’t say it’s faster or better than a single stick but obviously it packs much better and with no metal for noise.
After today’s practice session my muddy pro may be collecting dust if this works how I think it will.

I wondered about that. It would be great to have like a platform that could double as a "Step" when climbing but then the setup is getting heavy and potentially noisy. That was one thing that I noticed right off in your video with this double tether- tether-aider climb method, it was super quiet!! Nice job and thanks for sharing!!!

So, to follow up, I did end up trying a 3/16 tether for the foot (full bury) and 3/16 foot aider, prussik hitched to the tether using the non buried side of the foot aider continuous loop. Works just as good, with a slight advantage over the 1/4 inch in weight and packability. Disadvantage is, the knot is a bear to break once loaded. But, I have found that once I get the aider adjusted for the first move, I dont move it agian, until I change trees. Tree diameter determines how I move the aider.

Sorry for a possibly stupid question, but do you have any more detailed instructions for making the foot aider?

Its actually just a continuous loop of Amsteel with 7 inch buries. Plenty of Youtube content on how t make one, and they do a much better job of explaining it then I would. Then, I insert 3 or 4 heavy duty zip ties to keep it open,

Thanks, I enjoy one-sticking but I may give this a try.
