Aerohunter Kestrel Flex - Issues

Just did a little digging for anyone who is curious:
“Cordova” is a brand-name that applies latex/vinyl to products such as work gloves, using a similar material to that which AH uses in the Flex seat. This is why ppl haven’t been able to get info from AH on their use of “Cordova”, because that’s like asking for a “Xerox” when you mean “photocopy”, or asking for a “Kleenex” instead of a “facial tissue”.
I was baffled by the lack of info on this mystery material, but it’s just a form of latex.
As you were, friends...

AeroHunter has always been committed to making quality products manufactured right here in the US. They have a great staff committed to offering a quality product to all saddle hunters and I trust they'll resolve these issues as soon as possible.

Has anyone got their saddle fixed yet? Im talking about the holes/separation not the rubbing off of material.

I haven’t. The saddle has a one year warranty so I’ll wait til the end of the season then send it in. This will allow me to see how bad it gets after a season of use.

Good Idea. Would suck to give the saddle up for who knows how long and start the wait all over again. Although, I bet AH would prioritize the remedy. I bought mine from the classifieds so Im not sure if I have a leg to stand on. I tried it out again yesterday and had more stitches pop from somewhere????

Trim those loose strands and you will be good to go. As said before, they just put the rubber coating on to darken the white material for whatever reason. You obviously cant see it while wearing it. Good luck this season

Hmmmm... Why would a rubber coating be applied to just color the material from white when they could just Camo both sides or dye it a solid color?

The rubber coating I thought was to make the inside of the saddle kinda tacky to keep it from riding up? If so, that coating coming off is a failure of a feature of the saddle.

Also, why is the material fraying/tearing/splitting? Never saw that issue with my Kestrel.

I'd like to clarify our fabric issue for you. The fabric is not ripping. What's happening is the black coating on the back of the camo fabrics is rubbing off. We asked our fabric printer to apply the black coating just to tone down the white on that side of the fabric. We expected it to wear much better than it does. This is superficial and will not affect the life-safety or durability of the saddle.
It's unattractive, but I assure you this is not a weakness in the Flex saddle, and the color on the camo side of the fabric is tough and durable. Still, to meet our high standards for the appearance of our products in the future, we are researching other camo fabrics that won’t shed the coating this way.

Good idea guys, I will hit it with a power washer.

I read the response. Which is why I posted...

This is more than simply the rubber coating peeling off.

That's what makes Areohunter an awesome company. They are always up front about their products. I have a Kestrel and a Flex and love them both .

Im so confused. I was only speaking to the rubber coating issue not the fabric ripping out in a way in which that particular picture depicts. I just posted their response about the rubber coating being on to dull out the white color for the first time.

Just to be clear, this thread is not to bad mouth AH or the Flex. I am simply documenting my experience with the saddle and the issues that have come up for others to see so they have a better understanding before possibly making a purchase. As the saddle comes with a 1 year warranty, after the season is over I will contact AH about getting it replaced/fixed/whatever route they wish to go.

First post have been watching this sight for awhile now. I have a flex on order and I'm patiently waiting to receive. I've used the mantis a few times in the yard it's my soninlaws I like it just wanted to go another way to try different products .
Jumping into this sadle addiction with both cheeks the gathering of gear is fun but I'm affraid at some point I'm going to have to hide the credit cards. Will keep an eye out for problems with the saddle but I'm keeping it positive thank you to the community for all the useful info out there.

Welcome bow13. You will enjoy AH products. night and day difference in comfort compared to the other leading saddle brand on the market
