Hello all! New to the saddle hunting here. In fact I’m still going through the decision making process on whether to in fact buy one and saving up for one. I see a huge amount of benefit coming from the switch with how many run and gun set ups I do on public ground.

my one question for you all is, how feasible are all day sits with the saddle system? My lone wolf is honestly not the most comfy for all day sits either, but was wanting some input from saddle hunters that do in fact accomplish all day sits with the saddle. Any tips and tricks to all day sits with a saddle? Thank you all in advance for your input!

I hunt out of a JX3 Hybrid and it is extremely comfortable. I can do all day sits in it with no problem because there is no weight on your feet or knees.

Couple years ago I sat 16 days in a row all day before I got my buck. Regularly I sit 20 days or so a year all day. More mental than anything but a saddle is easier on my back.

Good to know. What brand of saddle are you using? I’m not comfortable making my own like some guys and have been looking at the Tethrd mysel due to a discount and reading their reviews.

I’ve done several with my SD and Primal platform. Like others have said, it’s more mental than anything. Also, nothing wrong with climbing down and stretching for a couple minutes to get the blood pumping

Last year I did 4 all day sits back to back. This year I did two all dayers and the rest I got out of the tree for a couple of hours each day when I had the whole day to hunt. I have to agree that I feel like it's easier on my back.

I had a Trophyline since 2005. Just switched to a flex this year mostly for the detachable bridge so I could use it as second lineman belt. I like the Flex

That sure looks comfortable. How easy is standing for a change of pace?

I don’t stand, per say. But leaning is exactly the same as any other saddle. If I’m sitting all day, I usually come down to base of tree and do some stretching and what not to get blood flowing at some point. Break up the monotony

I do not own a saddle yet. I have owned hang-ons, climbers, ladderstands, and I have some perm built blinds. In all of them I never sit in the same position all day. In a climber for example I will alternate between sitting, standing, leaning with back against the tree, standing while facing the tree, etc. Even in my perm built blinds which are roomy and have a comfortable chair in them, I will do the same. The human body just isn't made to stay in 1 position all day. Even if watching TV, you typically get up occasionally to stretch. LOL.

Like I said I don't own a saddle yet (waiting to see what new products come on the market after the 1st of the year), but I don't see since you are able to change positions why it wouldn't be possible to sit all day in a saddle. No matter what you are hunting in all day sits day after day will wear on you mentally and physically.

.

I think each all day hang gets easier than the previous all day hang. The 1st couple hangs of the season are slightly more taxing than later on. Dawn till dark is a breeze by the end of a 2 week vacation of back to back all day hangs.

I spent a lot of this season checking out an improved Anderson style prototype and I'm really liking it. Leaning in it is good, not much different than my Kestrel, but it really shines for sitting. Being able to comfortably sit occasionally during an all day hang is extremely helpful for all day comfort.

I don't know how you guys make all day sits, just have never been able to do it in any stand. I love hunting all day, just have to get down and move a couple times to stretch the legs and change the scenery.

I’ll throw a curve ball here, when I was 36 (4 years ago) about two hours after a flight I had a mild stroke... which I recovered fully from. Never identified a cause but circulation has been on my mind ever since and - justified or not - it’s the reason I won’t commit to a saddle. I run a JX3 instead, and I’ve sat all day a few times this year, just fine. But when you’re stationary for long periods with some constriction on your legs, especially the older you get, make sure to wiggle your toes, flex your calves, etc. At some point make some larger movements, maybe climb down and back up, keep things flowing.

All good advice, but blood clots in the lower extremities don't cause strokes. They can lead to pulmonary embolism though, which can also be quite dangerous/deadly.

All day sits are a rut thing for me. I can't imagine all day hanging during early October when 90% of the deer movement is happening in the last 2 hours of the day. The other 10% movement is during the 1st hour or so of the day. That equates to about 9 hours of nothing happening.
Herd and stand quality definitely comes into play, too. I have a lot more patience when I have confidence that my stand can produce a mature buck.

If you have any kind of PFO they certainly can cause strokes, 25% of the population has PFO.

I cannot do anall day sit in anything, I am told about different comfort in different stands and all that, but honestly, I can't sit in a recliner all day either
