Amristep strap on for a climbing method?

I acquired quite a few amristep strap on step recently and was wondering how they worked as a climbing method. Thought some of you may ha e used them in the past.
 
I found they are excellent for climbing if the factory buckle is replaced with and over center buckle. With the original buckle they always seemed to slip too much.
