I don’t worry about my amsteel bridge, due to the inspection I give it every time I put it away after a hunt. The small gap between buries might be annoying to my style of hanging, but I don’t “think” it is unsafe. Albeit, I tapered my buries to allow a smoother transition between the rope diameters as the bury runs the length of rope. Meaning there are no abrupt transitions the whole length of the bridge. Did you taper your buries at all? I also lock stitched the second splice, because it is impossible to do a second locked brummel splice once the tag end is fixed. It is very important to lock stitch the second splice. Spliced amsteel retains a high percentage of the original break strength if you follow safe and sound practices. I followed the manufacturers recommendations to a “T”, because I was, and still am, new to splicing ropes. With all this said—-I don’t worry about my bridge, I just inspect and assess after every hunt. Knowing I will have to splice a new bridge before this season is up. Hope this helps
