I have and like the Hys strap but it got me thinking why not make a amsteel daisy chain version. The only thing I did different than a standard daisy chain is I made sure one side of each loop was longer than the other. I don't think it would matter but I always made sure it was the same leg of the rope. The only advantage is it's smaller than the actual Hys strap.

Nice. I have one made out of paracord with knots to make loops but I was thinking about doing the same thing. What length legs of rope did you start with?

I made one like this out of 7/64 amsteel and absolutely hated it. I made a strap out webbing that fits my style better.

I did something similar but with some nylon cord I had. I’ve been using it all season and it has worked out well.

What are you using to connect it around the tree in place of the t hook?

I just pass the tag end down through the nearest loop. Hang my pack from that and it keeps it plenty tight enough to hold my bow on the other side.

I said that wrong lol. I take the tag end and pass it through the first loop and pull it through until it’s tight around the tree. Hang the pack somewhere on the tag end and it holds it tight around the tree.

I haven't actually used mine, just made it yesterday. I planned on doing the same. Or passing it thru doubling it back and clipping loops together with an S biner

Zero structure to the thing, got tangled up easily, catches in tree bark terribly bad to name a few.
I sewed this up and it works for me much better.

I just tried it in the yard and didn't experience any of the issues you mentioned. This pic is pulling down with more force than the weight of my bow. I like it especially how it packs.

5 s biners, my qlipter hook and the amsteel strap all together is smaller than the Hys strap by itself. The Hys strap is probably a bit better but I'd rather take my new setup in the woods. Just because it fits better in the pocket I want to put it in
