Angled Platform

Certainly possible this or something like it has been done, just an angled variation on a homemade platform someone posted, his name was NutButter or somesuch. It has just enough of a flat section that you can stand on it or rest your feet flat when your sitting but the angled part seems more natural when your leaning back. The angles on the edge seem to work well for pushing off the sides.




It is heavy because it’s made of steel. I have another version that has a little more flat, a little less angle that I want to spend some time with. Once I figure out which I like best I want to have an aluminum version of it made.

I have not spent more than about 45 minutes on it at a time and in fact this will be my first season in a tree saddle, I’m no pro at this. But it has a good feel to it and it kinda helped me lean back and get comfortable in the saddle.

Anyway thought I’d share it and see how many people think I’m crazy. A buddy of mine only know traditional tree stands so he’s totally baffled by it (tee hee).

This is the first one I have seen with a combination of the two nice job!! I like the idea of having both options!

I saw one on here recently that was similar but had a flat front that angled down. I like the idea for foot comfort while leaning but I'm not sure if there's enough flat to balance on to stand if needed. I hope the design works for you. Seems like a worth while endeavor.

That's the one I saw. 9 inches should be enough to stand on, but I wonder if that 9 inches so close to the tree will allow you to stand.........maybe it would if you had a high tether?

As far as standing goes - do you guys feel the need to be able to stand freely with no support from tether or lineman’s rope? I’m asking because I’m new at this and I’m sure to encounter things I didn’t count on.

In addition to comfort I noticed better shooting stability when shooting behind me and particularly the so called weak shot. I’m right handed so when I’m shooting on the right side of the tree I have my right foot on the slant with toes pointing almost downward and right leg straight knee locked, my left foot on the flat section on the right hand side. Left lower leg/knee braces against the tree.

Thus far in my learning how to shoot from a tree saddle the angled surface seems to work well for me. Ring of steps is great for shooting but it gets to a little uncomfortable, at least the way I set them up.

The only time I'm standing vertical is the quick sec from when I transition from climbing method to platform..... u should be tethered in before u do that move so u have tether and linesman...I'm vertical long enough to adjust my tether height.....as soon as that's set I'm leaning back to set bow hanger etc.

As far as can u stand on the slanted platform......dont u guys have ankles that bend? It no issue to stand

I agree....I like my platform on an angle....i just show that standing vertical is possible

But you find the shape keeps you from laying your feet flat together or is the width of each edge enough for your legs to stay together while resting your legs?
