I found this new (old) tree seat on eBay for a few bucks and thOught it'd be worth a shot for a platform. It just arrived today and I haven't tried it yet, but I think it'd be worth a try after putting it together.
I can see that the side to side movement we make could potentially cause issues because it's screws into tree like s step. Then you slide the seat on and put a set screw in to hold it in place. I'll let you know how it works out.

Maybe if the screw in frame piece works but I don't like the seat, I'll just make a different "seat"to attach to the frame.
What do you guys think?

Plastic would have to go. Too slippery and noisy. Maybe bolt some square tubing to the flat bar pieces then weld a piece of grating to it.
Bottom would still kick out on side pressure. Maybe ratchet strap it down.

I had the same thought about the plastic,(the slippery part) but figured I could put something else on the frame, like you said. I was thinking lighter than the welded piece though. Although I do have access to plenty of aluminum and steel and welders. Maybe aluminum to bolt on to existing frame.
Too many projects and too much work to spend much time with hunting stuff right now. I've work every weekend for a while. And made time to go fishing with dad and brother and nephew a couple times.
I need the money from all the work, but I can't wait until I get a breather
