I bake roughly two cakes a year, for my two girls birthdays. I'm no expert but try my best to pull off their increasingly complicated requests. For my younger one, this years request was unicorns and mermaids meeting at a beach, I hit the easy button and bought some miniature toys for the toppers but the rest is strawberry cake and icing. (I'm letting her choose where to put the toppers in the AM)

Also been dabbling with baking bread here and there, and I can make a pretty good pizza dough but that's borderline baking. I'll see if I can find some pics of some older cakes if wanted. I know with the variety of talented people on here there's got to be a few bakers-show off your talents here please!

I enjoy it but haven’t dived down the deep end yet. Pizza dough I do pretty regularly and I’ve made dozens of variations of some chocolate chip cookies just learning how doing different things change the outcome.

Have yet to make a cake even though there’s an Oreo one I really want to try. Similar thing to the cookies with banana bread other than there’s been one that just knocked the socks off the rest. I’ve made a couple bread loafs before but haven’t tweaked that one enough yet cause it’s just me and the wife and we just don’t eat it quick enough usually.

I do a couple of times a year. Same scenario...for birthdays if requested. Here are a couple I've done over the past few years.

I dabble with pizza dough. Made a 50/50 whole wheat/all purpose flour batch last night. I’ve been experimenting with different bake times and temps. Last night I upped both and the crust turned out much crunchier and firm than I prefer. But my house temperature is usually not conducive to dough rising so that could be a factor.

My grandmother's pumpkin/banana nut bread recipes are my favorite to make. She used to make several loaves for my dad and I when we'd go to Kansas upland hunting.

I have a solid chocolate chip cookie recipe (with pecans, it's not a solid chocolate chip without pecans)

Baking raised breads are not my Forte. I suck at it aside from a no knead focaccia bread that is amazingly good and stupid simple. Usually with roasted garlic and sun dried tomatoes. If I had the want/time to get a sourdough starter going I definitely would as I LOVE sourdough breads.

Nuts in cookies? You're nuts.

Let's hear more about this focaccia! (I've failed at sourdough starters multiple times, didn't feed them regularly enough I think, sourdough is hard but some people make it look easy)

I used a recipe I found on tik tok but this fits it pretty well. The fun thing is you can put whatever you want in it, olives, garlic, tomatoes fresh or sun dried, garlic infused olive oil.

My family likes it dipped in some olive oil and balsamic vinegar or olive oil with crushed garlic and grated parm.

Pecans and walnuts, browned butter and some dark chocolate. So good.

I do more breads here and there. My wife has a sourdough starter that's been treating us well. I find baking too technical - need to be accurate with all the ingredients (she uses my grain scale for archery ). Much prefer cooking/ smoking, etc... ability to kind of wing it more there.
We also did a funny cake contest (ala "Nailed It" on Netflix with her family a few Thanksgiving back... needless to say, we won )

Lol I have yes, it makes a good crusty bread lol. Also enjoyed the other type of dutch "baking" quite a bit in my youth as well lol. that was somewhat the inspiration of my double entendre nickname earned in college...
