Anyone else ever stumble across the ridiculous flashlight hobby?

Two years ago, I purchased a nitecore HC60 headlamp in Soft White. I chose that one over the HC65 because I liked its built in settings better. It has a 1 lumen setting which you can actually see with and runs about two months. But the mode I most use while hunting is the 38 lumen mode. Not super bright, but you can easily navigate thru the woods. That mode will last 25 hours on a charge (18650 batteries). It also has the other modes up to 1000 lumens, which are great for tracking.
I love this thing and use it year round. I'm sure there are other brands out there that are just as good or better, but this works great for my needs.

Another reminder that you fellow degenerates are hard on the wallet! Actually not, I'm glad I found these 18650 beasts. Big step up.

Last year bought a zebralight headlight and a thrunite handheld that throws a tight beam. Good combo, but needed to make some adjustments.

Zebralight is floody and just felt unless I had it on turbo I couldn't see well enough to navigate unfamiliar places without a beam.
And I don't really think flashlights spook deer much but I don't to light up the whole place at the same time. Also missed having a red beam as thats what I usually climbed with. I like the zebralight its a shame they don't make one with a red light also.

Just picked up baby #3, a Fenix that has all those features. Gotta get used to the new UI but loving it so far. Next on the wishlist is something to replace my 25 year old hand me down spotlight.

I'm not sure I really see the point except to keep up with the tacticool crowd?
Does your zebralight headlamp take button top batts or flat top, my old one takes protected button batts and my new doesn’t, only flat tops, royal PITA

Only unprotected. Another reason I wanted to move away from it keeping that spare in my pack makes me a little leery.

Yes that does suck. Mine are like 15 years old. Bought a new one cuz the lumen rating like doubled. Couldn’t use any of the dozen batteries I had so I returned it. Might try the new one with the 21700 batteries….

I use a rechargeable Nitecore NU32 headlamp. It has a red light option and has served me well.
I'm a big fan of Olight. My favorite and best light is the 14,000 lumen Marauder but I have several others.

I went 18650 about 2 years ago. Started with a zebra headlamp and handheld. My most recent and best bang for the buck is Sofrin. I can buy 4 Sofrins for the price of a zebra.

Those little battery pouches are handy and can be found on Ebay3F922EEA-C2C2-48DA-81BF-E60B6E35E165.jpeg

I got a nite core but it doesnt always connect to battery

Zebralight H600d Mk IV 18650 XHP50.2 5000K High CRI Headlamp
Spot + spill

Black diamond (with red and green) on same headband.

Fenix TK35UE for blood trailing and getting past my fear of the dark (no shame here)

I love my Zebra Light. I just wish they would have a low lumen red that would share the same battery.

I just picked up the sofirn d25lr headlamp because it has multiple brightness levels of red and white.
Seems pretty good to me, but some of the lights in this thread are on a whole different level

If you all want to drop some serious cash on flashlights take a look at oveready, malkoff devices, or prometheus lights. Or you could get into the custom machined world with exotic metals and spend north of a $1000 for one light. Most of my user lights are fenix, streamlight, and eagletac. Some are over 3000 lumens but my pocket carry ones are small and around a 1000 lumens.

Update on my EDC light since March 2021, getting some nice wear on the anodize. Emisar D4V2, SST20 4000K, Cyan with stainless ring. I did break the deep pocket clip recently, I have another on the way. This guy in Hawaii has been my go to for lights for a bit now. https://jlhawaii808.com/

What happened to make you dislike them? I only have their keychain light (Tube V2), it is tiny and usb rechargeable which is awesome. I have had it one my keys for almost a year. It puts off enough light to walk out of the woods with as a backup. They have some decent looking bigger lights but I've never handled one.
