Yeah 460 is quite versatile. Even a 500 sw would be awesome. My next revolver will probably be the 500jrh or 500 short. Just something about a 1/2” hole

My buddies son, who I take hunting every year, shot it last yr without too much kick. He said it kicked like the 44 mag. Hes 13 now. Hope this helps a lil bit.
When I was ready to pull the trigger on a 350 upper, I couldn't find any in stock for a fair price. I see they are back in stock now. But then I saw the other loads coming out. Every now and then Cabela's would put those 350l rifles on sale pretty cheap with a scope. I have been a little scared to dive down the AR road. Been trying to cut back on stuff I don't need. Gun season is pretty short. So have a hard time spending lots on something I can only hunt with a little over 2 weeks with.

Your right, at least last year any legal firearm in the shotgun zone for muzzleloader season, bumped into a dnr officer and he confirmed. So if you count early Doe, regular firearm, muzzleloader, and late doe it’s more like 6 weeks.

That's where I'm at with it all too. On private land the gun season is long but now that I'm 100% public I'm not really spending that many days gun hunting anymore so I just use my CVA Scout 35 Remington and call it good. I've been a lifelong gun guy, reloader, etc but it's actually pretty nice just keeping it simple for a change.
I thought that was the draw to the AR platform....1 lower and multiple uppers that are relatively cheap....I'm not trying to steer u but I thought I remember u saying the same thing not that long ago

Reloading and using a bolt-action rifle will allow you to get the full potential out of any cartridge.
Lever-actions and gas actions (ARs) are weak actions, compared to bolt-actions, when running heavy or hot reloads.
I tried running my heavy reloads for my Ruger Super Redhawk 44 Mag., in a steel frame Henry and the brass case seized up in the chamber. I thought I was going to break the extractor while trying to get the case ejected.
Most reloading data for the 450 Bushmaster, won't show loads over 37 or 38 grains and 2300 fps. I load 39.5 grains of Lil'Gun powder, to get a 2550 fps load with a Hornady FTX 250 gr. bullet. There are no signs of case pressure with this load and it is exceptionally accurate, out of a 22" barrel. A buddy of mine loads 41 grains of the same powder to get 2700 fps. I was happy with my reload and didn't care to push it any further.
It's a personal choice between wanting extended range and knockdown power vs. low recoil and critical shot placement. Especially if kids or women are going to be shooting the same rifle, a lower recoiling cartridge would be a concern.

All great info. That’s what I love about the bushmaster, I can load a screamer or a 45 colt like load. I even have some 255 wlfn at 1600 fps that will anything in Michigan if not North American. Reloading opens a whole wide world of possibilities

That's certainly one advantage. But it comes with limitations that simply don't apply to bolt actions (generally longer magazine, less sensitive feeding) or single shots (no magazine, no feeding, only limited by chamber pressure and case head diameter). Everything is a trade off.
When I was looking for a new rifle I wanted a more budget minded bolt action. Single shot in hog country didn't make much sense to me. There's plenty of them but it drives me nuts these guns sold with no iron sights....the guns that met my simple criteria of just having iron sights and be a deer killing caliber I was looking to spend 6 hundo easily....I went cheap and put together the AR for lot less money. I don't have any ammunition restrictions....I chose 350L cause during the ammo shortage I found that caliber still in stock at pretty much every store I went into. I was considering the 450 and that was my first choice but I never saw ammo in stock....sure, I could just order it online but not too keen on shipping and waiting if I could just drive 5 or 6 miles and have item in hand.... While I got a respectable collection of them and like shooting very much I'm admittedly not a "gun guy" and just buy boxes off the shelf and couldn't tell u anything about ballistics or terminal velocity or discuss calibers and pro/con of each or anything like that so I probably not helping contribute at all.....hahaha sorry
I did say that. It was my plan at the time. But never did it. Evaluating my options.

You don't have to do it all at once. At some point someone will put an upper in 6.5 Grendel or .204 Ruger or something and you'll have a mid-range deer or varmint rifle. Someday....
@Weldabeast what length barrel did you go with on your BC 350? I think I might go back to plan A on this.
