Anyone use the saddle with a trad bow?

62" Border Covert Hunter with Hex 7.5h limbs or 60" Morrison 15" riser with long max5 limbs. Both boths around 51 lbs at 28".

Very sweet rigs! How do these two compare?

Border has a few fps on the Morrison. Both both crank out 200+ fps at 10 gpp. I shoot closer to 13 gpp and still get 185-195. Draw profile is different. Border only gains about 1 lb per inch on the back end. Morrison gains more but the front end is way smoother. The Morrison limbs are loaners at the moment. I had some max4 limbs earlier in year but sold them to help a buddy in need. Max5s are a big improvement. Finish on the Morrison limbs is superior to Border limbs. I'll be ordering my own set soon.

The Sid's are getting closer on the hex 8s. They should gain nothing on the back end and prototypes are actually showing a slight letoff on a back end as crazy as that sounds. String choices are more limited though to ensure enough elasticity.

Tell me about it. I have had several customers tell me they can no longer shoot my strings on their bows due to lack of elasticity in the string material( BCY X) Bob Morrison never made customers stop choosing a certain string material due to lack of integrity on his products. I understand that Sid is doing some great things for the "advancements" of limb design, but, I would like to see the limbs to be strong enough to not blame failures on certain string materials.

I don’t like to hear that either. I understand their limbs are built on the raged edge of what is possible. That’s great, someone has to push the limits. However, the cost seems to be reliability.

I have done some downright stupid things to my bow. It has taken it all in stride and I have full confidence in its reliability.

And still, I consider ordering a covert Hunter all the time! I wish I could at least shoot one.

While I've not shot out of a proper saddle yet (still waiting New Tribe), I've been practicing with a old harness I rigged up. 58" longbow, and don't see any problem areas. I can see the bridge length & teether height being the one restriction, but it seems like you just have to find that right combination, then stick with it. I'll hit My elbow on the draw with some configurations. As said, learning how much room you need from branches will be key.
They way I have my trial saddle rigged up keeps me from being able to twist much in it, so I'm hoping that ability in the Kestrel will open up all the shots to the back of me pretty nicely. Only thing I can't do in the saddle is shoot over the bridge to my right because of my cant, but I couldn't do that standing on the ground either!
