I know where that is! I've been thinking of scouting that area but sadly it looks like work will be taking me elsewhere and I won't be able to hunt there this next season
I don’t know what kind of terrain you’ll be in but the fat tire bikes are the ticket
After having the ambush now for over a year I wish I had gotten the one with 20” wheels. I’m short and the regular frame makes me sing soprano if I’m not careful.

Yeah, I'm only 5'9" so having a full sized bike isn't necessary for me. Want to get one but on the state ground here it says no motorized vehicles...need to ask the local conservation officer of Jim Edgar whether or not they are allowed.
If I had to do it all over again...I would buy the radrover folding bike. Or the quietkat folding bike. I'm 5'4" and hate the feeling I have of the boys getting squished.
Have you had any issues with your bow because of the vibration in the bike? I would carry my bow the same way, but I am concerned about my sights. thanks
Not so far. The holder is rubber and gives but my bike also has front and back shocks which cuts down on the vibration as well.
In some of our managed hunt areas in MD you have to park in designated spots. In some of those areas a bike allows you to park where you have to and come in on the backside. Everyone walking just pushes everything to you. I've used it a lot more for turkey after they close the forest service roads. You can sure cover some ground.
I used MTB for many years on the private property that I hunted in NY. I'll give you this advice:
1) Be sure the Law allows it. Here in KY on WMA it is not allowed.
2) Do test runs to your stand sites. If the terrain is fairly rugged, you may find pedaling your rig against ground resistance (mud, weeds, sticks etc.) inclines, and addressing obstacles is actually slower or even much harder than walking, believe it or not.
3) Do your best to have GREAT tires suitable for the dirt you're on.
If you have fairly well maintained, fairly level trails to use though, it can be a fantastic benefit as far as getting i quick goes. That said, if everything if the going is rough, if you really enjoy MTB... do it anyway, LOL! I loved it. I would hop logs, cross creeks, slog through puddles crush through tall grass, run between corn rows, power up hills...and fall a lot lol!! Rarely hurried. But to me it was a part of the adventure of the hunt. Its also super cool to ride back in the dark using a headlamp. I hate that I can't do it anymore because I only have public land to hunt.
FWIW, and I know others disagree, I don't think deer tolerate the bike thing well. Even if I was using a normal road, if I pedaled by as they were feeding in a field, they'd take off running. They tolerated cars, wheelers, walkers better. Go figure. Its the face I guess, lol!

I have just joined the eBike club and cannot wait to use this excellent tool in the Fall.
I've always considered that the rule, not the exception. When i see bike access it looks cool, but then i think of where it would work...and that seems like mostly atv trails. For sure proper(ly large and grippy) tires help, and i've got some trails that are a lot of fun on a fat bike - but i don't know how well everything adds up most of the time.
I hunted for one season with a bike. It was a found freebie that one of the dopeheads from the local projects left in front of the store I used to work for. After looking at it leaned against a tree for a month I wheeled it in and told the bike tech to make it work. He cussed me out, put new tires on it, and told me that I had two gears out of 7 or so that would work.
I spray painted it OD green, slapped a diy bow rest on the handlebars, and used it 5-6 times to access a couple locations about 2.5 miles down a horse trail on a bow-only wma. It was definitely quicker, but that thing was a PITA on a good day. I think it literally threw the chain every time I took it out!
Eventually I threw it in the trash where it belonged. I have thought about getting a fat tire, and maybe adding a motor to it down the road. There are 3 WMA tracts inside of 30 minutes that have extensive trails that are "nonmotorized traffic only." A bike would be legal, and I kinda wonder if DCNR would even give a heck about an electric bike. It's not like they really tear up the ground any worse or disturb wildlife any more than a regular bike.
Camping out of my Blazer with a canoe on the roof and a bike rack on the back would be about as mobile as hunting gets. Add a powered parasail to the mix and you could attack by air, land, or sea!

I just bought a canoe, a 3 hp motor and now you say I need to buy a powered para-sale? My wife is going to shoot me. Course i would if I could...be like the heli-hog hunting.
