Bad shot... How long do you think?

I walked the area for 2 hours with my son this morning. I had blood at the last spot I saw her.. no dead deer. No other blood. Really confused. I thought for sure there would be a dead deer laying there. When we got there. There was two does near by. The first young one went bounding off. The bigger one was a little slower getting out of there. I didn't see her at first, so I didn't get a chance to put my scope on her to look for a wound. May have been her? She went past the other guys trail camera last night. So waiting to hear from him if he got a picture of her.. But I am really confused.

hopefully a meat hit and all is good

That's a lot of blood. She's probably dead. I would grid search the area or use a drone or dog if legal/available. Even if the meat is ruined, I always want to put a period at the end of the sentence.

Tough freaking animals, man. I'm with @raisins , I'd grid search like crazy and/or use a dog/drone although it sounds like you walked a good bit this morning. If she let you get to 10 yards I can't imagine she went far. Make sure you didn't overlook any low lying shrubs she coulda crawled into

i hit a dandy 2nd day this season and it left pools like that. then the blood faded and disappeared. mine was most likely a high one lung hit. called a bloodhound and dog tracked for 300+ yards and no more blood. doubt he died.

ive seen forward hits that i know didnt kill deer before. just took out some meat and left some blood. deer survived.

if you're sure you made a killing hit you can always call a tracking dog, legal here in MN. There's an app called TRAKR that connects people with tracking dogs.
