I bought one used for $100.00 bucks and received it today. I have to say I’m impressed. I climbed with it like you would climb with a summit or lone wolf climber. Not the one foot method the manufacturer recommended. I’m pleasantly surprised with it. No sticks or platform to carry anymore. I believe this will be my go to climbing method from here out

Yeah, I don't do the one foot method and don't use the strap. It's good as gold for me! I only use the strap to attach around the tree once I reach my desired height.

How’s it handle side pressure.
Once you use the provided strap to wrap around the stand and tree; it is surprisingly solid in regards to side pressure. I can actually stand on the support arms with no movement noted.

How is your tree size limited? And limited in what way? Just curious
With the size of the cable, 16" in diameter is about the maximum size of tree for climbing. They do sell a 5' cable, which does increase your options. I also bought the 5' cable and carry it in my pack if I have to climb a larger diameter tree.

You're really limited to 12" trees because that's the distance between the uprights.Any bigger and they hit the tree, not giving you enough angle to move.It it were 3" wider,it would be the ticket.

It's a great concept. It climbs good and it handles side pressure. It just needs to be wider so it fits bigger trees better.

What happens if it doesn’t bite to the tree and like LW hand climber- will fall and dangle from the strap connected to the seat (the LW did) then you have to pull the climber up w your feet while hangong from your tether..

I always use a madrock safeguard to climb with.If the platform falls,I'd just rappel down, get it and start over.
