Every attempt I made at making any soft saddle approach the same class of comfort as the hybrid.

I'm not advocating one stick climbing, especially what it has turned into these days. But Every attempt at using multiple climbing sticks more than a few hundred yards from the truck. Not really saddle related I guess.

Rope climbing and rappel for anything besides presets.

Any method of taking an entire deer out of the woods that doesn't involve a motor.

Rage broadheads.

Me not thinking saddle hunting would be come a "thing"

Product launch flop proportional to the level of hype I have to go with the Mantis saddle.

Gear that personally flopped, Stepps. I tried them longer than I wanted to but just hated them.

1. The Tethrd Mantis, nice concept.... but felt like I was wearing a thong and had a wedgie the whole time.

2. I'm still not completely sold on 2TC climbing but man I"m really trying to see if I like it.

3. And this isn't anything to do with any particular product or technique just the process of saddle hunting without preset locations and the total setup time. Unless I am extremely slow and methodical or just too OCD, which could very well be the case in many instances...... sometimes I find myself wondering if mobility is worth the total setup time. I like that I can go anywhere with everything on my back and be setup. But honestly, from base of the tree to hunting ready and from end of hunt to ready to walk out...... I've probably got at least 90 to 120 minutes into the entire process of mobile saddle hunting time. My ascent with a one stick is pretty fast now. Probably 7-10 minutes but everything else from the adjustments to to the hauling your bow up getting that set, getting your calls out, getting extra clothes put on etc. and then on the back end, getting the rappel rope out, setting that up on the tree, adding your pull down line, getting the descending device out, packing up your other gear etc.... I'm not sure I'm saving any time whatsoever in those scenarios. I guess I assumed I would save more time compared to hanging a hang on stand with sticks etc.

I completely forgot about the WEI Stepps. I agree with you completely..... I tried and tried... way too much fiddle factor for me.

The flop for me was Saddle hunting being lighter. It definitely can be, but that depends on the climbing method and additional gear you want/need to hunt. I'm at or approaching my climber's weight.

One way saddle hunting didn't let me down is less bulky gear. I'm not snagging on everything in the woods when walking in or exploring new areas.
